The Mercury Music prize nominations have been announced today with 12 albums vying for the prestigious prize. The bookmakers music experts have release the odds for all the artists and XX by The XX are favourites at 5/2 with Ladbrokes and 2/1 with Paddy Power and William Hill. The indie 3 piece band were formed 5 years ago and the XX album received universally critical acclaim.

The Wild Beasts are in a really strong position to win the Mercury Music Prize 2010 at 5/1 with William Hill, many music industry insiders think the innovative band with such an out of left field album would be worthy winners of the award. Corin Bailey Rae with The Sea is 12/1 with Paddy Power and the complete outsider in the Mercury Music Prize betting is Golden by The Kit Downes Trio at 14/1 with Paddy Power.
