Huge Gamble On The XX In The Mercury Music Prize 2010 Betting Odds
Wednesday 21 July 2010 at 16:51
The Mercury Music Prize 2010 Betting Odds have only been released this week yet there has already been a huge gamble on The xx winning the coveted music prize. William Hill reported huge amounts of money for the favourites overnight and have responded with shortening their Mercury Prize Betting Odds dramatically.
Bookies Run For Cover After Overnight Gamble
William Hill were offering 4/1 on favourites The xx but they have been forced to slash those odds to just 15/8 following a flood of money for the three piece band from London. William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams had this to say about the market move:
"It will be a XXXX result for us if this gamble pays off."
Wild Beasts And Mumford And Sons The Main Threats To The XX
Wild Beasts and Mumford and Sons now share second favouritism with William Hill, either band can be backed at 9/2 right now whilst there are four acts tied on 8/1 with William Hill. The pick of those may be the extremely popular Dizzee Rascal at 8/1 with William Hill but it is worth remembering the Mercury Music Prize often goes to a relative unknown so perhaps Laura Marling makes more sense at 8/1 with William Hill. Others worth noting at bigger prices include Paul Weller who is 10/1 with William Hill and also outsiders Biffy Clyro at 16/1 with William Hill.
