Lennox Stakes Goodwood Betting Odds Have Dalghar And Red Jazz Fancied
Monday 26 July 2010 at 15:09
The opening day of the Goodwood festival has the Group 2 Lennox Stakes now renamed the Betfair Cup as the feature on a seven race card. Run over 7 furlongs it brings together 3 year olds and older horses and is run on the round course. Normally very competitive it often goes to in form animals on the upgrade, a high draw is normally an advantage.
Favourite for the race is last year's winner Finjaan from the Marcus Tregoning yard. This looks to have been the target for the 4 year old as he has been very lightly raced this season, William Hill have Finjaan drawn 8 as favourite at 9/2.
Red Jazz from the Barry Hills stable can be backed with the sponsors Betfair at 8.0 and would have been a confident selection with him getting the weight for age allowance of 7 lbs, but Red Jazz is drawn in stall 1 and this tempers enthusiasm. He may be able to overcome it but it will not be easy.
Dalghar at 6/1 with William Hill is from France and looks to need soft going but is worth risking each way such is his quality. Six and half lengths behind Goldikova and Paco Boy in the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot was a great run, a reproduction of that run without those superstars in the race would see the Alan De Roy Dupree trained Gerald Mosse ridden 4 year old in the shake up.
A couple of big priced outsiders to take a second look at are Riggins at 14/1 with William Hill and Lovelace at 22.0 with Betfair, both don't look quite good enough but at the prices they offers some value and Riggins is a previous course winner.
In total 12 horses go to post at 3.25. Bet 365 have their 4/1 offer on this race where if you back the winner and he returns at 4/1 or above you get a free bet on the next feature race. With all the horses currently bigger than 4/1 if you can find the winner you will get a free Bet 365 bet.
