Mercury Music Prize 2010 Betting Odds Still Make The XX Favourites Over The Wild Beasts
Friday 27 August 2010 at 12:16
The Mercury Music Prize 2010 will be awarded in just over a week on September 7th and the latest Mercury Music Prize Betting Odds still make The xx strong favourites to pick up the Mercury Music Prize.
The XX Still Favourites To Win Prestigious Prize
The xx have been strong favourites to win the Mercury Music Prize ever since the nominations were announced, the best price they were available at was 4/1 but that was immediately snapped up and in recent weeks their price has remained quite static, The xx can currently be backed at 15/8 with Stan James in the Mercury Music Prize Betting Odds, they are as short as 6/4 with VC Bet. After the favourites, the betting market is pretty competitive, just about second favourites are The Wild Beasts, they are available at 6/1 with VC Bet and Paddy Power and at the moment they are considered second best.
Bookies Don't Agree About Laura Marling Whilst The Villagers Are Interesting Outsiders
There are two other acts with single figure odds in the Mercury Music Prize Betting Odds, showing what a competitive market it is this year. The current third favourites are Mumford and Sons, many bookies make them the second favourites but they are available at 7/1 with VC Bet which makes them third favourites overall. Laura Marling is the most fancied solo act at the moment, she is an 8/1 chance with VC Bet and just half that with Paddy Power at 4/1. It could be worth backing an outsider for an award that has a history of going to an unfancied nominee, The Villagers are perhaps most interesting of the outsiders at 14/1 with VC Bet.
