Labour Party Leader Betting Odds With Ed Balls Likening Leadership Contest To Soap Opera
Tuesday 31 August 2010 at 12:25
East Enders or Coronations Street fans may find no similarity between their much loved soap operas and the battle to succeed Gordon Brown as leader of the Labour Party but one candidate Ed Balls is likening the debate and news coverage to a soap opera.
Mr Balls wants the focusing on the Milliband sibling rivalry to stop as it is is not doing justice to the important issues facing the country and the Labour Party. Some may think this rivalry enhances interest and without it any coverage would not make the front pages.
This may be a desperate attempt to garner some support as Mr Balls is languishing in the betting at a huge 66/1 with Bet 365, Coral and Totesport. He is way behind the Milliband brothers who presumably are Phil and Grant in the Labour Party Soap. David Milliband is favourite at 1/3 with Ladbrokes and Paddy Power, his younger brother Ed is 4.0 with Betfair. Most political watchers think one of Mrs Milliband's sons will end up as the Labour Party Leader.
Two other candidates are still in the race, former Health Secretary Andy Burnham is on the same price as Ed Balls at 66/1 with Ladbrokes and Diane Abbot has got up off the tiny This Week sofa and can be backed at 100/1 with Coral. To back your candidate click any of the bookies above.
