Ryder Cup 2010 Day One Fourball Odds And Tips
Thursday 30 September 2010 at 18:12
This afternoon saw the opening ceremony of the 2010 Ryder Cup and the two captains used that opportunity to announce the initial fourball pairings that will make up the first four matches taking place tomorrow morning.
Big Guns Set For Early Ryder Cup Fourball Clashes
The 2010 Ryder Cup finally gets underway tomorrow morning with Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer taking on Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson. Westwood and Kaymer was an expected pairing but the duo of Mickelson and Johnson may raise a few eyebrows. The early prices released by the bookmakers are showing Kaymer/Westwood as the 23/20 favourites for the match with Boylesports and Bet365 whilst VC Bet are going the best price about Mickelson/Johnson at 6/4. The draw is a 5/1 shot with Ladbrokes and William Hill.
The match that will probably attract most attention is the match-up between the European pairing of Ian Poulter and Ross Fisher against the USA duo of Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker. Sportingbet and Blue Square make Woods and Stricker the 10/11 favourites whilst Bet365 go 2/1 about Poulter and Fisher. This match could be a close call and if you agree the 5/1 available for the draw with Coral and Ladbrokes could make plenty of appeal.
Europe Look Set For Early Day One Lead After Fourballs
The other two fourball clashes will be Mcdowell/McIlroy v Cink/Kuchar and Harrington/Donald v Watson/Overton.
The Irish duo of McDowell and McIlory have lots of experience of playing together and are bound to be a popular choice with the punting public but are set for a tough match. Mcdowell and McIlroy are 5/6 with Paddy Power to win the second match of the day whereas Cink and Kuchar are 11/5 with Bet365 and Stan James. The draw is 11/2 with Coral.
The morning matches are completed by the steady partnership of Luke Donald and Padraig Harrington playing the American rookies Bubba Watson and Jeff Overton. Corey Pavin has obviously taken a chance playing two rookies together and the bookies have reacted by making the European partnership a best of 8/11 with Sportingbet and Paddy Power and Watson/Overton 13/5 with Bet365. The draw is 11/2 with Coral.
Make sure you check out the special Ryder Cup Refund being offered by Paddy Power where you will get your money back if your selection loses before the 16th hole. That must be a winner!
