Amir Khan V Marcos Rene Maidana Betting Odds And Tips
Thursday 21 October 2010 at 18:11
Amir Khan makes the third defence of his WBA Light Welterweight crown in Las Vegas in December but Khan has a difficult opponent this time in the Argentinian Maidana and the young man from Bolton may not have things all his own way.
Khan Odds On To Record Victory Number Thirty
Amir Khan has a record of twenty-three wins and just one defeat and seventeen of his victories have come inside the distance so it goes without saying that Khan is a puncher of the highest calibre but he faces a top quality fighter this time in Marcos Rene Maidana. The bookmakers make Amir Khan a best-priced 4/11 to win the fight and that price is available with Skybet and Ladbrokes but Maidana is also a powerful fighter with a 29-1-0 record with an amazing twenty-seven of his fights ending early. Maidana is a 5/2 shot with Bet 365 to cause a shock and the draw is 40/1 with Ladbrokes.
Both fighters have fought Andriy Kotelnik and whilst Khan won with a unanimous decision Maidana came out on the wrong side of a split decision against Kotelnik. This would appear to favour Khan but since then Maidana has won his next four fights inside the distance and looks sure to give Khan something to think about.
This fight doesn't look like it can possibly go the distance with two such explosive fighters and Khan fans could be best advised to take 5/4 with Ladbrokes that Khan wins inside the twelve rounds.
Another tasty looking bet is Boylesports offer of the fight to last under 9.5 rounds of Evens. The styles of the two fighters suggest that attack will be the name of the game in this fight and its hard to see both of them making it to the tenth round.
