Thursday 28 October 2010 at 11:17
The Ballon d Or 2010 Betting Odds have been very popular this week after the 23 man Ballon d Or Shortlist announcement and Wesley Sneijder has been installed as the early favourite in the Ballon d Or Odds ahead of Barcelona midfielders Xavi and Iniesta. There should be plenty of changes in the odds ahead of the announcement of the winner in Zurich on January 10th 2011.
World Cup Finalists Dominate Betting
It is no surprise that Wesley Sneijder is the favourite with most bookies to win the Ballon d Or 2010, he had an amazing past season for both club and country. The year 2010 saw Wesley Sniejder lift the Champions League trophy and play an instrumental role in landing that whilst he also finished joint top goalscorer for Holland at the World Cup when they finished runners up. He has shortened with many bookies already and is now a best price of just 7/4 with Ladbrokes and Victor Chandler. That purts him ahead of World Cup winners and Barcelona midfielders Xavi and Iniesta. Xavi is the shorter price at 10/3 with Bet365 but Iniesta could prove a better bet, the shortlist has been strongly influenced by World Cup performances and Iniesta's World Cup final winner could be enough, he is a good bet at 11/2 with Paddy Power, Ladbrokes have the right idea as they offer just 3/1.
Lionel Messi Could Miss Out But He Is Well Ahead Of Cristiano Ronaldo
It seems odd that Lionel Messi is not even in the first three in the betting but last year's winner is still prominent in the Ballon d Or Betting Odds, he can be backed at best odds of 9/1 with Victor Chandler despite several bookies offering just 4/1. After these four favourites there is a large gap back to two of the other top scorers at the World Cup, both David Villa and Diego Forland can be backed at 20/1 with Bet365, who offer up to £200 in free bets to new customers. There are no Englishman in the shortlist and only three players from the Premiership, the best of which could be World Cup winner Cesc Fabregas, he is 66/1 with Bet365 ahead of Didier Drogba at 80/1 with Paddy Power and Asamoah Gyan who is a complete outsider at 100/1 with Bet365 and Ladbrokes.
