World Cup 2018 Host Betting Odds Now Make Russia Favourites Ahead Of England
Wednesday 24 November 2010 at 10:32
With just a week to go until the World Cup 2018 Host is decided Russia have moved into favouritism with England trailing behind in the World Cup 2018 Host Betting Odds. The closer we get to the announcement by FIFA on Thursday 2nd December the more accurate the World Cup Host Odds should be.
England Host Bid Loses Momentum With Russia Now Favourites
England had been favourite in this market for over a year and despite the whole Lord Triesman scandal England still remained the most likely winners of the World Cup 2018 bid. More recently the English press has uncovered FIFA representatives who were selling their votes and that seems to have damaged the English bid further, leading bookies t make England the second favourites at 13/8 with Ladbrokes. Russia now appear to hold all the aces, they are favourites at evens with Paddy Power and Ladbrokes, well ahead of the other bids which don't seem to have much chance, Portugal and Spain are 5/1 with Coral whilst Belgium and Netherlands are 66/1 with Coral.
USA Are Favourites To Host World Cup In 2022
On the same day as the 2018 host is decided the 2022 World Cup host will also be decided and it looks as though USA will be hosting their second World Cup in less than 30 years, they are currently just 4/5 with Unibet to win the right to host that World Cup. Hot on USA's heels are Australia and also a possible surprise candidate in Qatar. Australia are rated at 5/2 with Unibet whilst just behind are Qatar at 11/4 with Unibet. The other two bids on the shortlist appear set to miss out, the two Asian bids are Japan and South Korea, who shared hosting rights in 2002, Japan are 11/1 with Unibet whilst South Korea are 19/1 with Unibet.
