Monday 14 February 2011 at 10:09
The Oscars 2011 Betting Odds have been given a bit of a shake up after Sunday's BAFTA Awards, there were a few shocks in some of the categories and the Oscars Odds have been updated to reflect who the most likely winners on the 27th February.
Interesting Clues For Best Director And Best Supporting Actor
It was no surprise to see The King's Speech clean up at the BAFTAs but one award it was expected to miss out on was Best Supporting Actor, that was expected to go to The Fighter actor Christian Bale. Geoffrey Rush won the award for his role in The King's Speech and he has shortened to 4/1 with Bet365 and William Hill, Christian Bale is still the hot favourite but he has drifted to 1/6 with Bet365 and SkyBet. Another clue from the BAFTAs was in the Best Director category, the betting in this category for both the BAFTAs and the Oscars was pretty close but David Fincher, director of The Social Network, emerged victorious over The King's Speech director Tom Hooper and David Fincher is now expected to follow up with the Oscar, he is down to 8/13 with Bet365 and Victor Chandler from evens before the BAFTAs, Tom Hooper is out to 5/4 with SkyBet.
The King's Speech Expected To Be Just As Successful At Oscars
There were few surprises in the Best Picture category at the BAFTAs, The King's Speech justified it's short odds and is just 1/6 with William Hill and Blue Square to follow up with the Oscar for Best Picture. One of the biggest certainties at the BAFTAs was the star of The King's Speech, Colin Firth, winning Best Actor and he has only cemented his position as favourite in the Oscars Best Actor Odds, he is just 1/33 with SkyBet and Blue Square. Natalie Portman also justified her short odds to win Best Actress at the BAFTAs for her role in The Black Swan and she should follow up with an Oscar, she is just 1/12 with Victor Chandler, Blue Square and 888Sport.
