Oscars 2011 Odds Could Feature Some Upsets According To The Bookies
Thursday 24 February 2011 at 10:16
The Oscars Awards Ceremony takes place on Sunday and the bookies are predicting some big upsets in the Oscars 2011 Odds, despite many of the main categories looking foregone conclusions according to the latest Oscars 2011 Betting Odds.
Upsets On The Cards Says Bookie
The King's Speech and The Social Network are expected to dominate proceedings on Sunday at the Oscars and the films are rightly the two favourites in both the Best Picture and Best Director categories, although Paddy Power's Sharon McHugh is predicting an upset in at least one of those categories:
“Despite the fact we've seen the odds crash for The King's Speech we've taken more money and more bets overall on The Social Network. The Academy are notorious for producing a few shock surprises on the night so this year's Best Picture category could be one!”
The King's Speech is hot favourite with everyone at the moment for Best Picture, you can get just 1/4 with Sportingbet but it looks as though The Social Network could offer better value at 4/1 with Paddy Power, Bet365 and SkyBet.
Social Network Could Be the Big Winner On Sunday
The Social Network is expected to pick up Best Director regardless of the result in the Best Picture category, David Fincher, the film's director, won the BAFTA for Best Director and that saw his odds shorten further, he is now 8/13 with Bet365 and Coral whilst The King's Speech director Tom Hooper is rated at 11/8 with Bet365 and Paddy Power. We also have short priced favourites in the Best Actor and Best Actress categories, an upset looks most unlikely for Best Actor where Colin Firth is just 1/33 with SkyBet whilst Natalie Portman will be expected to pick up the Best Actress for her role in Black Swan, she is just 1/9 with Victor Chandler to win that award.
