Cheltenham Gold Cup 2011 Tips And Odds Suggest Imperial Commander Should Beat Long Run
Friday 18 March 2011 at 08:12
The Cheltenham Gold Cup 2011 take place this afternoon and the Cheltenham Gold Cup 2011 Tips and Odds suggest the race should be between the two favourites in the race.
Imperial Commander And Long Run have Contrasting Course Records
Traditionally the Cheltenham Gold Cup goes to one of the favourites, the last ten Gold Cups have been won by horses in the first three in the betting. The two favourites seem to have the best claims and it is unclear which of them will go off favourite at the moment. Last years winner Imperial Commander is a great bet if he is 100% tuned up for this, he is now as big as 9/2 to win the race and with his outstanding course record over fences of five wins from six. Long Run is the other very well fancied horse at 5/1 at the moment, he has been in great form this season but he is yet to win at Cheltenham in two runs at the course which dampens enthusiasm a little.
Kauto Star And Denman Have To Defy The Stats
The two veterans in the race, Kauto Star and Denman, have won three Gold Cups between them and they are the third and fourth favourites despite having to defy the age stat. The last horse who was eleven or older to win the Gold Cup was back in 1969. Both could easily still run into places though so each way bets on both at around 7/1 arent bad bets. Kempes has been well supported over the past couple of weeks and could be the horse most each way punters latch on to with doubts about a few of the favourites, he is still available at around 11/1 but could go off a lot shorter.
