Eurovision Betting Has Blue Feeling Good Despite Phillip Schofield
Tuesday 22 March 2011 at 15:45
The UK song and selection process is always embroiled in controversy and in 2011 the UK are again making headlines. Firstly the choice by successful boy band Blue to take up the cudgels on behalf of the UK in Eurovision was seen by many record insiders has being the death knell for the band. Then it was reported that Dancing On Ice presenter Philip Schofield had tweeted thats Eurovision screwed for another year and he thought the anthemic track I Can was shocking. Others have agreed that the song leaves a lot to be desired and may fall well short of Eurovision glory.
However bookmakers have taken a different view to Schofield and installed the UK as third favourite in the betting at 8/1 with Boylesports and SkyBet. Blue are just behind Estonia whose song Rockefeller Street performed by Getter Jaani is 6/1 favourites with with Victor Chandler and France who are a best price 8/1 with Boylesports. The bookmakers have reported early interest in a host of countries even though there is still six weeks before a song is sung in anger at the Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf which is the Eurovision 2011 venue.
