The Boat Race 2011 Betting Odds Make Cambridge Favourites For Two In A Row
Thursday 24 March 2011 at 11:05
The Oxford Cambridge Boat Race 2011 takes place on Saturday afternoon and the bookies think it will be Cambridge who take the bragging rights for the second year running.
Cambridge Looking To Put Back To Back Victories Together
Cambridge were able to stop Oxford from making it three in a row last year and that continued the trend of Oxford winning two Boat Races and then Cambridge winning one. If that trend continues then it will be Oxford who win this year, but Cambridge will have their eye on a streak of their own, during the 90s they managed to get seven straight wins and they would love another run like that. Cambridge are favourites to at least extend their winning streak to two this year, they can be backed at 8/15 with Blue Square and 888Sport. Oxford were favourites last year when losing and this year they can be backed at a bigger priced because of that loss, they are 13/8 with William Hill.
Dead Heat Available At 100/1
Anyone looking for a bet on the Boat Race at a huge price could back the draw in the race at 100/1 with Bet365 and Stan James. The bad news is that there has only ever been one dead heat in the history of the Boat Race and that was all the way back in 1877, it looks very unlikely but it could be argued we are overdue a dead heat! There are various winning distances that can be bet on for this race, Bet365 have the simplest with just two options, you can get 8/11that the winning distance is under 3 lengths and evens with Bet365 that the winning distance is 3 lengths or over. One of the more interesting specials on the race is on a boat to sink. The most recent instances of a boat sinking were in 1984 and 1978 whilst in 1912 both boats sank. This year the odds on a boat sinking are 33/1 with William Hill. For more Oxford v Cambridge Odds click on any of the orange bookie links above.
