Next Chelsea Manager Betting Odds See Huge Move For Marco Van Basten
Monday 23 May 2011 at 10:21
Marco Van Basten has been made the favourite in the Next Chelsea Manager after a large amount of bets were placed on the Dutchman on Sunday night. It had been thought that another Dutchman, Guus Hiddink, would be the most likely contender but now it appears Marco Van Basten is top of Roman Abramovich’s shortlist.
Van Basten The Man Everyone Wants To Back
Marco Van Basten could be viewed as a bit of a risk should he get the Chelsea job, he has only managed Ajax and Holland so far in his career which means he is largely unproven in Europe’s top leagues. It looks as though he is the man that Roman Abramovich thinks can take the club forward though and that is the most important factor, Van Basten was 12/1 after Ancelotti was sacked but he is now the 3/1 favourite with Boylesport, William Hill are laying just even money on the Dutch legend.
Hiddink And Villas-Boas Dispute Second Favouritism
The move for Van Basten means that Guus Hiddink is now the second favourite in the Next Chelsea Manager Odds, he is out to 9/2 with Boylesports and could still be a solid proposition if talks between Van Basten and Chelsea stall. It looks less likely that the early favourite, Andre Villas-Boas will get the job, he was just 2/1 to replace Ancelotti but has drifted out to 5/1 with SkyBet and Victor Chandler and he looks set to remain at Porto for now. Jose Mourinho’s name is never far from the speculation about the job at Stamford Bridge but his chances seem to be disappearing, the Real Madrid boss is now out to 10/1 with Victor Chandler and Stan James, he is deemed less likely to get the job than Spurs manager Harry Redknapp. To find out the odds on the likes of Redknapp, Frank Rijkaard or Pep Guardiola, click on any of the orange bookie links above.
