Owen Coyle Next Aston Villa Manager Odds See Massive Gamble As Ancelotti Is Ruled Out
Tuesday 07 June 2011 at 09:55
There has been another twist in the Next Aston Villa Manager Odds with Owen Coyle emerging as one of the main contenders to replace Gerard Houllier after a huge gamble on the Bolton manager in the past 24 hours after Carlo Ancelotti was ruled out of the running for the job.
Huge Gamble Takes Place On Owen Coyle
Carlo Ancelotti was favourite in the Next Aston Villa Manager Odds with many bookies until it was announced that he would be taking a year out from the game on Monday morning. It seems the man that Aston Villa have now turned to is Bolton boss Owen Coyle who is one of the brightest young talents in management. In the past 24 hours Coyle has shortened from as big as 33/1 to a best price of 9/2 with Coral, the shortest odds that Coyle is now available at are 5/2 with William Hill and SkyBet so that 9/2 looks pretty generous. Coyle has done a good job wherever he has been and it won’t be long until he has his eye on a bigger job than Bolton, this looks like it really could happen.
McClaren And Hughes Still The Favourites
Coyle is not quite the favourite yet though (although it might not be long until he is) as the bookies still think the most likely Next Aston Villa Manager is former England manager Steve McClaren. McClaren has done a decent job in club management but was a huge failure as England manager and it is unlikely Villa fans would immediately take to McClaren, he is currently just 5/2 with Bet365 to get the job. The second favourite at the moment is Mark Hughes whose price has been yo-yoing in the past week, he is 7/2 with Victor Chandler whilst Roberto Martinez looks to be still under consideration as he is 11/2 with Victor Chandler and Coral.
