Northumberland Plate 2011 Odds And Tips See Overturn Favoured Over Activate After Draw
Thursday 23 June 2011 at 11:48
Several well fancied horses were not declared for the Northumberland Plate 2011 on Thursday morning meaning there was a bit of a shake up in the Northumberland Plate Betting Odds whilst the hot favourite for the race all week, Activate, has been handed a very unfavourable draw and has now drifted as a result.
Overturn Favourite After Activate Gets Bad Draw
Low numbers are usually favoured in the Northumberland Plate draw so it was no surprise to see Activate drift after being handed stall 18, you can now get 7/1 on the former favourite with SkyBet and his chance may have gone. Much better off with the draw was Overturn, who made all to win the race last year, he has been handed stall 2 which will make his life much easier and he is now 13/2 with Paddy Power although the ground is still a question mark for that runner. Another horse now disputing favouritism is Harlestone Times who is stepping up half a mile in trip (which should suit) and he has stall 5, he now looks the most solid bet of all at 7/1 with Paddy Power.
Montaff Looks Well Overpriced On This Ground
Tactician would have been of great interest had the ground been on the firm side but despite his draw in stall 6 he makes little appeal at 12/1 with Victor Chandler as all his form is on better ground and his trainer Michael Bell has expressed reservations about the going for that runner. One horse who will find the ground right up his street is Montaff, who loves this trip and ground, he was last seen finishing 2nd in a Group 2 on softish ground over 2miles at Sandown, and he has an okay draw in 11, 25/1 with SkyBet is surely underestimating his chances and the Mick Channon runner looks a very good each way bet.
