International Handicap 2011 Odds And Tips Make Hawkeyethenoo The Narrow Favourite
Friday 22 July 2011 at 10:21
The International Handicap at Ascot is often one of the most difficult but also must rewarding handicaps of the entire flat season to solve. The International Handicap 2011 Betting Odds suggest it is as competitive a race as ever with Hawkeyethenoo currently the most popular of the tips at Ascot.
Hawkeyethenoo The One They All Have To Beat
Hawkeyethenoo won his latest start over this course and distance and seemed to relish the step up in trip, he hadn’t run over 7f since his debut 3 years earlier. He is up 7lbs for that which is fair and if the ground dries out a little it is almost impossible to see him not being in the thick of things from his low draw. Next best in the betting is Excellent Guest who has finished second on his last two starts in similar handicaps to this, he is still relatively lightly raced and seems to have found his niche in these big field handicaps and with the ground seemingly irrelevant to him he is another who surely has to run well. In front of Excellent Guest last time out was Brae Hill and he is the third favourite for this race, he seemed to get the run of the race last time though and will struggle to confirm placings with Excellent Guest.
Our Jonathan And The Confessor Also Likely To Run Well
Our Jonathan is unlucky not to have won a few more races this season and if anything shows how competitive this race is it is the fact that Our Jonathan, who seemingly has outstanding claims, is available at 12/1 with most bookies. The Confessor looks to have been laid out for this race, he won three races last season and has run very well in defeat twice this season and conditions look perfect for him on Saturday, he could prove the best each way bet in the race. Another well handicapped horse in the race is Leviathan who is a 16/1 chance for this race, he probably needs very soft ground over this trip and he will be more interested next time out over a mile if the ground is on the soft side.
