Chelsea Likely Signings Include Luka Modric And Falcao From Spurs And Porto
Friday 29 July 2011 at 11:05
Chelsea’s summer spending spree looks like it will begin in the next few days as the new Premiership season is fast approaching and it appears the two most likely signings are a long term target and also a player new manager Andre Villas-Boas managed at his former club Porto.
Modric Still Likely To Move Despite Spurs’ Not For Sale Claims
The transfer saga involving Luka Modric has rumbled on all summer and it is the sort of transfer that might end up going through on transfer deadline day, just like when Spurs sold Dimitar Berbatov to Man Utd. Modric clearly wants out but Spurs remain unwilling to do business on one of their prized assets and the bookies remain convinced that he will be a Chelsea player next season and you can get just 8/13 with William Hill that he joins before the summer transfer window closes.
Will Villas-Boas Raid His Old Club
An even more likely signing is Porto striker Falcao, who had a great goalscoring record under Andre Villas-Boas. When Jose Mourinho joined from Porto he brought players such as Ricardo Carvalho, Deco and Paulo Ferreira with him and Villas-Boas could follow suit according to the bookies as Falcao is just 1/2 with SkyBet to be a Chelsea player next season. Those odds look very short considering the Colombian has just signed a new contract at his club and also the fact that Chelsea have Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres at the club so perhaps SkyBet know something that we don’t.
