Man Utd Fans Can Expect One More Huge Signing This Summer Say The Bookies
Thursday 04 August 2011 at 10:36
Only a couple of weeks ago Sir Alex Ferguson said that there would be no more signings at Manchester United this summer but there have been contrasting reports recently suggesting that Man Utd are working on one more big signing and that looks most likely to be Inter Milan’s Wesley Sneijder.
Everyone Wants Man Utd to Sign Wesley Sneijder
Paul Scholes and Eric Cantona have both recently said that Man Utd should sign Sneijder and even the tipsters on the OLBG forum are rating the chances of Sneijder signing for Man Utd. OLBG forumite Monkeytennis suggests that Sneijder has a week to decide if he wants to join Man Utd according to reports but KanKeano warns that Sneijder would possibly be taking a big paycut to join United “The thing you have to remember regarding the top players from the continent is that they would be paying upwards of 40%-50% in income tax on their earnings which they wouldn't have to do in Spain, Italy or Germany”. SkyBet think it is more a less a done deal though and that wages won’t be a problem, Sneijder is just 1/5 with SkyBet to join Man Utd before the transfer window closes.
Other Midfield Targets Expected To Move Elsewhere
Sneijder has become United’s number one target after Sir Alex Ferguson looked at Premiership pair Luka Modric and Samir Nasri towards the end of last season, but both players now look destined to go elsewhere instead, Man Utd are 5/2 with William Hill to sign Modric with Chelsea favourites at 8/13 whilst Man City are the 8/13 favourites with William Hill to sign Nasri whilst United are back at 6/5. Another midfielder who has been a surprise link for Man Utd is Joey Barton. There were reports that he was a target for Sir Alex Ferguson but OLBG member garlicsauce has doubted that transfer since the link saying “I can’t see him getting away with anything at Utd”. The bookies agree with that as they are out to 8/1 with SkyBet to sign the Newcastle player.
