Most Transfer Deadline Day Signings Could Be Made By QPR, Stoke Or Spurs
Wednesday 31 August 2011 at 10:31
Transfer deadline day is one of the most popular days of the season for reporters and fans as they look to see which high profile players change clubs and whilst it might not be popular with the managers it is certainly popular with the bookies who are offering odds on the future of the top players as well as some interesting specials.
QPR Fancied To Make Most Deadline Day Signings
QPR are expected to be the most active team on transfer deadline day, Betfred are offering odds on who signs the most players today and QPR are 7/2 favourites to invest some of their new owners’ money. Stoke and Tottenham are also expected to be busy and they are both 5/1 with Betfred to be the most active team whilst Everton, who are yet to spend any money this summer, are 66/1 outsiders to be the most active team. Both QPR and Stoke have been linked with Peter Crouch who is expected to be on his way from White Hart Lane today but the most formal interest has come from Sunderland which is why they are the 1/2 favourites with SkyBet to sign the England striker but he could be reluctant to move up to the North East which is why QPR have been backed down to 13/8 with SkyBet to sign Crouch. Stoke seem reluctant to meet Crouch’s wage demands and are therefore out to 9/2 to sign the player.
Modric, Ribery And Sneijder Unlikely To Make Late Moves
Tottenham could use the Crouch money to bring Gary Cahill to the club, they have emerged as the main and perhaps the only team in for the Bolton defender are they are now just 5/6 with Paddy Power to sign the England defender whilst he is 11/8 to remain with Bolton. High profile players such as Luka Modric, Franck Ribery and Wesley Sneijder, all of whom have been linked with Chelsea, are all expected to remain put today. Modric is 1/9 with SkyBet to stay at Spurs, whilst Stan James are offering similar odds for Ribery and Sneijder to remain at Bayern Munich and Inter Milan respectively. It looks as though it will be a long day for transfers and Paddy Power are offering odds on what team makes the last signing of the day (as reported on Sky Sports News) and after they signed Rafael Van Der Vaart in the last seconds of the window this time last year it is Spurs who are favourites to act late again at 11/2 with QPR next best at 13/2.
