Ayr Gold Cup Tips Put Pepper Lane Ahead Of Macs Power And Eton Rifles
Thursday 15 September 2011 at 12:40
The Ayr Gold Cup, one of the best sprint races all season, takes place at Ayr on Saturday with the usual maximum field of 27 providing punters with a wide open handicap full of big priced runners to bet on. Pepper Lane is one of the favourites in the Ayr Gold Cup betting and is currently the most tipped horse in the OLBG Tipping Competition.
Tipsters Fancy Pepper Lane To Win Four In A Row
The bookmakers currently have Mac’s Power the slight favourite over Pepper Lane at the moment, Mac’s Power is generally a 10/1 chance but is 11/1 in places whilst Pepper Lane is available at 12/1. Mac’s Power has not won this season but his third in the Stewards Cup behind Hoof It is very strong form, especially as the ground would have been a bit quick for him that day. In contrast Pepper Lane is currently on a winning streak of three and he has won four races this season. The one slight concern with Pepper Lane is that three of his five career wins have come at Ripon where he is a bit of a course specialist, although he has run well at Ayr before. OLBG tipsters are favouring Pepper Lane over Mac’s Power with over 29% of tipsters going for Pepper Lane and just 8.3% currently backing Mac’s Power.
Our Jonathan And Regal Parade Look Overpriced
Eton Rifles has the same amount of tips as Mac’s Power currently in the OLBG Tipping Competition and he is also well fancied at 14/1, he should enjoy this softer ground much more than the going at Ascot last time out. Also on 14/1 with the bookies are Hawkeyethenoo and Colonel Mak, the former is likely to find this ground a bit soft for him whilst Colonel Mak may not be so well handicapped under a 5lb penalty, he is now 6lbs higher than when winning the Ayr Silver Cup last season. A couple of overpriced runners could be Our Jonathan who is 20/1 despite finishing second to Pepper Lane last time out, he has seven furlong form which is often a huge bonus for this, whilst 2008 Ayr Gold Cup winner Regal Parade, who has gone on to win two group one races, is surely overpriced at 25/1 even only on the pick of this season’s form.Click here for more Ayr Gold Cup 2011 Tips or to place your bets click on any of the orange bookie links above.
