Champions Day At Ascot Should See Frankel Crowned
Saturday 15 October 2011 at 09:25
The Whip controversy has created all the wrong headlines for British racing but hopefully British Champions Day at Ascot will go someway to restoring harmony for the sport. £3 million in record prize money will be up for grabs in five QIPCO British Champions Series categories.
The highlight of the day is the crowning of Frankel as the wonder horse of the season. Frankel lines up in QE11 and according to OLBG blogger Hogsback "Frankel is a racing certainty, Tom Queally rides for Henry Cecil and Cecil is likely to use Bullet Train as some kind of pace maker to help Frankel smoke the rest of the field. Frankel has been in eight races and won all eight and runs over seven and eight furlongs on soft to good to firm ground. He has won four times so far this year and collected over £800,000 in winnings." Frankel is odds on at around 4/11 with Bet 365 and Paddy Power.
Refund Offer
85% of OLBG tipsters are with Frankel with very few dissenting voices. Ladbrokes will refund all bets on the horse that comes second if Frankel as expected wins. One horse that may run into second place is the super talented Dick Turpin from the Richard Hannon stable. The horse would have been partnered by Richard Hughes had he not decided to hand his license in after receiving a ban under the new whip regime.
