Spain Look Great Value To Beat England At Wembley
Friday 11 November 2011 at 15:03
England take on European and World Champions Spain at Wembley on Saturday evening in their first match since qualifying for Euro 2012. Spain are the favourites to win Euro 2012 and have been very popular in the betting to beat England and that support is reflected on the OLBG Tipster Competition where the majority of tipsters are backing the away side.
Spain Proving Very Popular Beat England
Spain were available at odds against earlier in the week but punters have clearly found that price to be too big, the current odds on Spain are now 10/11 (available with William Hill and Boylesports) and with most bookies still shortening Spain to win this game it would be no surprise if that 10/11 has gone by the time the game kicks off. Over 75% of OLBG tipsters have gone for Spain which is quite remarkable given the price and the fact that England should get some patriotic bets as well, amongst those confident OLBG tipsters are SmoggyFever who had this to say:
“Can't see anything other than a win for Spain here. England don't convince at all and we should see the Spanish players simply play around England.
With Terry missing, Lampard takes the arm band and it's pretty clear that around the older players, the emphasis is to see what the younger players can do before next years euros. The odds of 4/5 on spain are very fair, England are notorious for not taking friendlies seriously and we have to admit we are just not as good as Spain either.”
Mata And Silva Expected To Be Amongst Goalscorers
England have been so unpopular on OLBG that even the draw has attracted more tips, almost 15% of tipsters have gone for the draw at 5/2 with SkyBet whilst England have just over 10% of tips currently and the bookies are clearly struggling to attract bets, Stan James have recently gone best price 15/4 on an England win. The correct score betting has been very popular on OLBG, attracting almost 200 tips at the time of writing, the most popular selection has been a 2-1 Spain win at 8/1 with Ladbrokes, 19% of tipsters have gone for that outcome, whilst 3-1 is next best with almost 15% of tipsters going for that bet at odds of 16/1 with Bet365. There is no Wayne Rooney in the squad and his likely replacement Darren Bent is yet to attract a tip to score the first goal, the most popular players have been English based Spaniards, Chelea’s Juan Mata is 9/1 with Paddy Power to open the scoring whilst Man City’s David Silva is 10/1 with Ladbrokes, the pair have attracted almost 40% of tips combined.
