Man Utd Prove More Popular Than Man City Ahead Of Champions League Ties
Tuesday 22 November 2011 at 11:05
The Champions League returns to our screens this week and both Man Utd and Man City can book their places in the knockout stages a game early if they can win their respective matches tonight. Man City look to have by far the tougher match and that is reflected in their popularity in the OLBG Tipster Competition.
Man Utd v Benfica
Man Utd currently sit joint top of their group alongside tonight’s opponents Benfica and having already gained a 1-1 draw in Portugal in the reverse fixture most tipsters are expected Man Utd to get the better of Benfica here and a huge 88.2% of OLBG’s tipsters have currently backed Man Utd at a standout 4/6 with William Hill. The draw is the next most popular outcome at 3/1 with Boylesports with 7.5% of tips whilst Benfica have attracted just 4.3 % of tips, they are 11/2 with Paddy Power. Amongst those tipping Man Utd is OLBG tipster garlicsauce:
“All set up for Utd tonight for them to win, qualify and top the group after a dodgy start in Group C. Benfica are no mugs though and shouldn't be taken lightly, especially after holding Utd to a draw in the home leg of this tie. Benfica will also be conscious of goal difference, because if they ship too many, Basel could beat them to the runners up spot if they lose and get hammered. Don't see many goals tonight, but still a comfortable win for Utd to move onto the knock out stages.”
Man Utd are also being tipped by kirwan37 who is another tipster who respects Benfica but thinks United should be able to win this one:
“Man Utd will be very fired up for this game and i think they just have the edge over Benfica especially with home advantage. It will be a difficult game but I feel Utd will come away with a result.”
Napoli v Man City
Man City have not been quite as popular as Man Utd this week with the OLBG tipstes but considering their price is a fair bit bigger than United’s you could argue that City are actually better value given the amount of tips they have attracted. At the moment 73.5% of OLBG tipsters have gone for Man City at 11/10 with Bet365 to win in Italy, the draw is fairly popular with 12.2% of tips at 5/2 with SkyBet whilst 14.3% of tipsters have gone for the home side at a large looking 3/1 with Stan James. OLBG tipster kirwan37 also has an interest in this match too and he has gone for a draw in this fixture.
“Napoli are very hard to beat at home and even though Man City are playing really well with some fantastic players I do think a runaway win here for City is not on the cards. With form for City and class for Napoli a draw would could be a realistic result.”
