Harry Redknapp Not Guilty And And Odds On To Be Next England Manager
Wednesday 08 February 2012 at 12:51
It seems the best thing to have on your CV when applying for the England job is being cleared of all charges in a tax evasion trial as Harry Redknapp is now odds to become the Next England Manager following the verdict from Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday.
Redknapp Looks Nailed On Now To Manage England
Although Fabio Capello is being linked with an early exit from his job as England manager it seems highly likely he will be in charge of the team for Euro 2012 and will then step down after the tournament. The main question mark over Harry Redknapp’s prospects of landing the job were his court case as the FA surely wouldn’t have touched him had there been any doubt over his innocence. Now, after being given the all clear Redknapp looks likely to lead Spurs to their highest ever Premiership finish before moving on to manage England after Euro 2012, Redknapp is now just 8/13 with Paddy Power and he looks the only real English contender to be Next England Manager.
Mourinho Still In The Running For England Job
The lack of English competition for Redknapp means that Jose Mourinho is the second favourite to get the job despite the fact that the FA have said they would like to appoint an Englishman to replace Capello. Mourinho is likely to be available in the summer though so he could still be a major contender and as a result he can be backed at 10/1 with BetVictor and Stan James. Next best is the former second favourite Roy Hodgson, unfortunately he blew his chance at a bigger club last season at Liverpool and seems unlikely to make the jump from West Brom to England despite a great CV, Hodgson is out to 12/1 with BetVictor. Alan Pardew has really shown some great management skills at Newcastle and has played himself into contention, so much so that he’ll probably be second choice out of the English managers and Pardew could be a decent trade at 16/1 with Bet365 and Stan James.
