Next Chelsea Manager Betting Odds Have Mourinho Just Ahead Of Benitez
Monday 05 March 2012 at 10:04
Andre Villas-Boas was sacked as Chelsea manager on Sunday after one poor result too many at the weekend and it seems there could be a return to Stamford Bridge for Jose Mourinho or a return to English football for Rafa Benitez according to the latest Next Chelsea Manager Betting Odds.
Mourinho Favourite Ahead Of Benitez
Jose Mourinho is just about the favourite at the moment with the bookies for a return to Chelsea despite a rather messy split back in 2007 and his current odds of landing the job are 3/1 with Stan James and Coral despite being as short as 15/8 with Blue Square. It remains to be seen if either he wants to go back to Chelsea or if Roman Abramovich wants him back and many OLBG Tipsters share similar doubts, thatsa donkey had this to say about Mourinho’s chances:
“There is no way he will be back, he may take on Tottenham or Arsenal, but there is no way he would return to Chelsea.”
Rafa Benitez is Mourinho’s strongest competitor at the moment and since he is available at the moment he could appeal strongly to Abramovich, Paddy Power and William Hill go just 5/2 on the former Liverpool manager taking over at Chelsea but anyone wanting to back the Spaniard will want to take the 4/1 on offer from Blue Square and 888Sport.
Guardiola Strongly Linked With Chelsea Post
Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has been linked with a departure from Barcelona in the summer and on Sunday the papers were linking him with the job at Chelsea. He has been well backed today with many bookies shortening his odds and he looks a very strong contender with Bet365 going just 9/2 but Sportingbet going a standout 7/1. OLBG Tipsters certainly disagree about the Barcelona boss’ chances with Online Trader saying:
“I think there is more chance of me getting the job than Guardiola going there,”
but mercer thinking otherwise:
“Pep may go he has won every single thing possible with Barca and may want a new challenge in my opinion and is out of contract in the summer and Roman will give him what he wants.”
Temporary manager Roberto Di Matteo would seem lucky to hold on to the job yet the bookies make him one of the favourites at just 7/1 with Stan James. Other contenders according to the bookies include Fabio Capello at 10/1 with 888Sport, David Moyes at 25/1 with Coral and the potentially interesting Didier Deschamps who has played for Chelsea and looks likely to manage in England in the not too distant future, Deschamps is 25/1 with Bet365 at the time of writing.
