Grand National Runners With Soft Ground Form Prove Most Popular In GN Odds 2012
Tuesday 10 April 2012 at 11:02
The going on the Grand National was revealed to be soft on Monday and as a result the mudlarks have been very well backed for Saturday’s big race in the Grand National Odds. With more showers forecast this week the OLBG Tipsters have been examining which horses are most likely to take to the ground on the OLBG Grand National Forum.
West End Rocker And Giles Cross Supported After Rain
The main market moves over the past 24 hours have been on West End Rocker and Giles Cross, the former won the Becher Chase at Aintree earlier in the season on heavy ground whilst Giles Cross has finished second in the Welsh Grand National twice on soft and heavy ground. West End Rocker was backed from 16/1 to 11/1 with most bookies whilst Giles Cross, tipped up by many OLBG Tipsters last week, is as short as 10/1 from 25/1. Giles Cross has plenty of form with Le Beau Bai who is a much bigger price and the OLBG Tipsters have debated the relative merits of these two runners:
budgie27 - “Giles Cross is weighted to beat Le Beau Bai on their most recent head to heads. I don't see an obvious reason why Le Beau Bai won't finish as he has never fallen and jumps pretty big by and by.”
Clearo611 - “I think Giles Cross and Le Beau Bai will be hopeful of a deluge. Certainly two to keep an eye on if it chucks it down!”
Heavy Ground Form Could Be Crucial On Saturday
Meanwhile Micko70 has been compiling a list of horses who have the best heavy ground form on the assumption that even more rain could hit the track:
“Le Beau Bai - 6 wins, Synchronised - 3 wins, According To Pete - 3 wins, Giles Cross - 3 wins, West End Rocker - 2 wins, The Midnight Club - 2 wins, Hello Bud - 2 wins, Rare Bob - 2 wins”
