Scottish Grand National Runners To Note From OLBG Tips
Thursday 19 April 2012 at 13:52
The Scottish Grand National takes place at Ayr on Saturday at 3.35pm, just a week after the Aintree Grand National, and finding the Scottish Grand National winner if often a lot easier so it is no surprise that the OLBG Tipsters have been studying hard for this race and they might have unearthed some strong tips.
Merigo Looks A Solid Choice Once Again
One of the favourites in this race has been attracting plenty of support over the past week and that is Merigo. The horse is a bit of a course specialist and has an outstanding record in this race so it is no surprise he is now just 7/1 with Bet365 and Paddy Power who are both paying 5 places on each way bets. One OLBG Tipsters who likes the look of Merigo is monkeytennis:
“Really fancy Merigo Each Way for this, he has an outstanding record at Ayr and bounced back to form last time out. Merigo’s form figures at Ayr are 3112121 and that includes a narrow second in this race last year when 8lbs higher and a wide margined win in the race in 2010. Only way I can see him unplaced is being brought down and since he races prominently that seems very unlikely.”
Early Favourite Not Too Popular On OLBG
The favourite for the race is Harry The Viking, part owned by Sir Alex Ferguson, and he looks to have a leading chance having run so well at the Cheltenham Festival and he will certainly be one of the horses to benefit if the ground doesn’t deteriorate. He hasn’t been that popular in the OLBG Tipster Competition though, at the time of writing only 9.7% of OLBG Tipsters have backed the horse. Many tipsters like to use stats to narrow the field in these big field handicaps and the stats applied by Micko70 on the Scottish Grand National Forum leave only one possible winner in his book:
"That leaves us with just 1 horse who has a positive for all of the 6 trends and is an 8yo. The Selection is - Quentin Collonges."
