Next WBA Manager Betting Odds Now Put Alan Curbishley Ahead Of Chris Hughton
Wednesday 02 May 2012 at 15:12
There haven’t been a huge amount of changes in the Next West Brom Manager Odds since Roy Hodgson was confirmed as the new England manager but we do now have a new favourite with Alan Curbishley being promoted to favouritism over Chris Hughton.
Plenty Of Enthusiasm For Curbs
It seems Alan Curbishley is the man that West Brom now want to succeed Roy Hodgson and the manager who has been out of work since leaving West Ham in 2008 is extremely short with some bookies, Paddy Power are most confident that Curbs will get the job as he is just 6/4 with that particular bookie. The best odds available are 10/3 with Bet365 and BetVictor and that could still offer some value, Curbishley would be a good appointment for West Brom, he has only ever managed Charlton and West Ham and both teams have dropped down at least one division since he left them. He could well be interested in coming back into management with West Brom too as he said he was interested in the Wolves job just after Mick McCarthy left Molineux. There would also be no need for compensation which is always a factor these days and it is easy to see why Curbishley is the favourite in the Next West Brom Manager Odds.
Chris Hughton Drifts As Support Grows For Michael Appleton
Chris Hughton had been the favourite but West Brom are going to have to wait to talk to Hughton if they want him as he has guided his Birmingham side to the Championship Playoffs which will be getting underway shortly. Hughton is already based in the Midlands which would make taking the job a little easier but the fact that interest may have cooled slightly is reflected in the odds as Hughton is out to 9/2 with BetVictor to become the Next West Brom manager. Hughton’s odds have drifted because of the support for Curbishley and also the support for Michael Appleton who was assistant manager at the Hawthornes until taking over at Portsmouth. Whether or not he has done enough in that job to suggest he is ready for a move to the Premiership is open to debate but he is clearly well thought of at West Brom and he has been backed down to 8/1 with BetVictor and Paddy Power. At bigger prices you can back the likes of Steve Bruce, Roberto Martinez and Gianfranco Zola but it seems none of these are as likely as the only three managers with single figure odds at the moment.
