Kentucky Derby 2012 Betting Odds Make Union Rags And Bodemeister The Favourites
Thursday 03 May 2012 at 12:19
The Kentucky Derby takes place at Churchill Downs on Saturday and with the all important draw having been made punters are now betting with confidence on the Kentucky Derby 2012 Betting Odds and it is Bodemeister and Union Rags who currently dispute favouritism.
Union Rags And Bodemeister Fancied By The Bookies
Union Rags has the slightly lower draw at the moment, he has been drawn in stall 4 and can be backed at 5/1 with Ladbrokes and William Hill. He could only finish third in the Florida Derby, a key trial for this race, but he was finishing fast in that race and he is fancied by the bookies to reverse form with Florida Derby winner Take Charge Indy, who has been drawn in stall three. The fact that Take Charge Indy has an even lower draw than Union Rags yet is around three times the price at 14/1 with Bet365 and Paddy Power makes that runner look particular value. As for Bodemeister, he is the favourite with most bookies but is a best price of 5/1 with Coral which makes him a joint favourite at the best odds. Bodemeister will emerge from stall six. Bodemeister is in good hands in this race having been trained by training legend Bob Baffert who has a great record in this race. Bodemeister recently won the Arkansas Derby by almost ten lengths and is certainly a leading contender here.
Creative Cause Could Be The Best Each Way Value In This Race
The only two other horses with single figure odds at the time of writing are Gemologist and Dullahan who are both 8/1 with BetVictor. Gemologist hasn’t fared that well with the draw having been handed stall fifteen, ten stalls higher than Dullahan. An interesting contender at double figure odds has to be Creative Cause. He beat Saturday’s favourite Bodemeister two runs ago by three quarters of a length and although Bodemeister may have improved since then it still looks as though Creative Cause offers plenty of value in this race at 12/1 with Bet365 and SkyBet and that looks a nice each way price. One horse who has been shortening in recent days is Hansen who is as low as 12/1 but still 16/1 with Paddy Power, his form is closely linked with Dullahan but he is not as well drawn as that rival here.
