Sioux Rising
Is a c/d winner, three 2nds in her last 6 starts.
Got her regular jockey on her, been placed 3 times on Sioux,
so both getting on well.
Course: loves it here, won 3 times..
Not won a class 1 yet, but has been placed in one 2nd off 11
at York last month.
Going likes going won on it twice.
Ignore Sioux last run, who did well finish 5th at Goodwood at 7f,
droopping back to her favourite trip 6f, will see her sneak into the
places. |

Pontefract 3.45
Class 1 listed 6 furlongs.
Colorful Notion...from Marco Botti yard in Newmarket, Suffolk she's only 3yo and has only had the one win in it's 9 races that was last year at Doncaster,
It was a 2yo race over 6f gf where the jockey timed it nicely to take led in last 100 yards since then it's had another 6 runs being in frame 3 times,
They also sent it over to Dubai for three races but was unsuccessfull over 8f and 10f finishing 5th and 6th but did get in frame in last race there a 3rd over 7f which seems to be it's limit
The yard gave it 2 month off since arriving back in UK before sending it out at Doncaster 7f, gf, finishing 4th, again was one pace in last 100 yards, it's had two weeks rest since that run and hopefully it will be sharper for that run
Jockey Andrea Atzeni was onboard the horse for the first time in last race and yard have gave him the ride again |

Sioux Rising
Sioux Rising is getting old compared to Mince and Ultrasoni who no doubt will have a lot to offer in this race, but she excelled in a Group 3 race at York when second to Gracia Directa and didn’t she do well next time when she ran a Respectable fifth at Goodwood so despite the rumors she is in foal she will excel herself with the aid of Tony Hamilton............hopes of winning this month is fading fast!! |

MISS WORK OF ART
Mince deserves to win a race of this nature after she put up some top efforts in decent handicaps but if Richard Faheys filly, Miss Work of Art returns this season at the same level she ran to as a 2yo, she will take some beating.
This filly won her first 3 starts as a juvenile, starting off with a maiden on the AW, then a conditions race at Ascot, followed by a Listed race at York.
After that hatrick of wins, she stepped up into Group company, although finishing down the field on first couple of attempts at the higher level, she wasn't disgraced.
She ran a very good 2nd in one of the big 2yo sales races and then finished off her 2yo career with another couple of good runs, back in Group company, putting up a very good effort on final run when 4th in a Group 1 race.
Off the track for almost a year, so hopefully nothing has gone amiss with her and if she has trained on as a 3yo she could do well in the 2nd half of this turf season.
She has shown she can go well fresh and with the Fahey yard in good form, 3 winners yesterday, although to be fair they did have a lot of runners out on Saturday, she will hopefully make a winning return. |

SWITCHER
1. Distance Winner
2. Only run over this distance once on G/F and won
3. Has been running creditably in Listed and C1 company over further and drop in distance and suitable going is a big plus
4. 3lb lighter than last victory
5. Kingscote has a 17% strike rate on 3YO+ and a near 60% top 4 place rating
6. Dascombe has an 18% strike rate and a 52% place rating
For a horse that has won on G/F over 6F and run well in higher class , this formidable pairing of jockey/ trainer too is too big a price at 20/1. I fear both Fahey's runners the form the yard is in but need the points |

Perfect Tribute
She's been running in some pretty classy races without success for a while now but today she has dropped further in the weights and this one looks a bit easier than her challenges of late. Out of a yard who have a 35% place rate on turf and with the strong jockey Kirby on board who has ridden her a couple of times before her chances look good and she is running on good to firm ground which will suit in a competition which she is more than capable of winning off a mark lower than she has won off in the past over this distance. On at 16's presently. Would be good to get some points in the bag today!!!
Good luck Top Team |

Haamaat
Lightly raced and only ran 7 times but runs best at this distance as won 3 times twice at this distance. 1st time in class 1 race 2 runs ago and not bad effot coming 4th and only 2 lengths from 1st and only a shoulder from 3rd on same going as today. Lowest weight for last 2 starts of 9-0 and when 4th was 9-2 so weight not a problem. Also had 2 very good 3rds out of the 7 runs. Same jockey as last 2 times so they must think this jockey is suited. Should improve after last run as back to 6 furlong even though has won 1 7 furlong race 6 is his best. _________________ I stake low on bets.

Whilst Pepper Lane sprung back to form yesterday and must be respected if taking her chance here , I shall take a chance with one of the slightly bigger priced options.
SIOUX RISING is reportedly in foal and as such will not get much more racing this season , if at all.
Two of her three career wins have been on GOOD TO FIRM and the ability to stay further is always an asset at this track.
Richard Fahey does not have an outstanding record at the track , but 2 of his last 4 runners here have won. Tony Hamilton takes the ride on this , probably in preference to her stable companion.
She was a very good second to a useful German visitor in a Group 3 at York and followed up with a decent run in another Group race at Goodwood , this time over 7f. Her best recent efforts have however been at today's trip and this would look good on her CV. _________________ One-a-day history

PEPPER LANE - 3.45 - PONTEFRACT
Winner of yesterday's Great St Wilfred and if turned out again, can be a major force in this. That was the second win in a row in that race and this is clearly her time of year so they may strike again while the iron is hot. The first time hood yesterday did the trick and they will leave it on again today. She has proven form at this level. |
