Sadly , Sir Henry will not be at Goodwood to see Frankel run as he is undergoing further routine treatment in his on going battle against cancer
Lets hope Frankel wins by many lengths to give him a lift
One of the really nice guys in racing and his comeback in the last few years has been amazing
Henry was written off by many following his well documented personal and health problems...the horses and winners dried up
What a comeback ! What a trainer ! What a man !

Agree with you there Roger, i have five trainers in my life-time who i call the greatest of all-time, and Sir Henry Cecil sits at that table.

I do wish him all the best, absolute gentleman as you say.

Ouch Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Saw the heading and thought it must be about Franklin or his two wins at Goodwood today. I was not expecting to read this No
I sincerely hope Sir Henry recovers as he is and will always be my favourite trainer Yes
My first experiences of gambling on horses came in the late eighties and it was Cecil & Steve Cauthen that really got me into horse racing.
Cecil reigned supreme in those days and I seem to remember that you could almost back his 2-year old newcomers blind. He had an extraordinary record back then with his 2-year olds.
Roger... I also remember how not so long ago a lot of (so called) racing experts were writing off Sir Henry as a trainer and by god did he make them eat their words Very Happy
In my opinion, Sir Henry is one of the all time great horse racing trainers and lets all hope that he still has many years & many wins ahead of him Fingers Crossed Fingers Crossed Fingers Crossed Yes

I to wish Sir Henry Cecil, a speedy recovery, from this awful
illness.

Agree to Sir Henry Cecil, is in my top 5 list favourite trainers.
And one of the best trainers.
As it was Reference Point, got me in to the flat racing,as be for
was a jump fun, with Red Rum and Sea Pigeon.
Also think Dimuendo was Sir Henry horse to Confused

Hope Sir Henry makes speedy recovery, and be back on track
very soon, and have more years ahead.

You can't keep a good man down for too long - I'm sure the Warren Place maestro will be glued to the TV when Frankel is about to race and let's hope the result gives him a welcome boost. Fingers crossed he is back on a racecourse soon in better health. Fingers Crossed

The great thing about Henry is the fact that he is a very humble man.
Always has time for the press, media etc. I know from experience that if you want a few words or quotes from him , he will always give you the time
Always honest about the condition and chances of his horses
Most importantly, has always recognised that he is in the entertainment business so you must keep the public informed
( sadly there are too many trainers who treat the public with utter contempt)

Lets hope that Frankel proves that he really is special when he goes to York and tries further than a mile.
Certainly the best flat horse I have seen in the last 40 years....Bar None
