I was in good betting company in opposing AVB for the Tottenham job but was wrong.
I just cannot see the justification or wiseness in appointing AVB to Tottenham. He is going to experience imo the same man management problems at Tottenham as he did at Chelsea.
A lot of established players are going to feel under threat as new players are signed, this is ok if your track record is second to none but fresh in players minds will be the Chelsea experience + i am sure some of the Spurs players will have spoken to the Chelsea players about their dealings with AVB.
To my mind AVB is an excellent coach but should not be attending press conferences with the "gentlemen of the press" they are always after a story and pressure from them can undermine a manager. If the press get their claws in to AVB the board and the players will lose confidence and a quick fix solution will be found. There is plenty of history at White Hart Lane in replacing managers - jol/ramos/redknapp.
If Tottenham start badly pressure will mount and the 11/2 with Paddy Power to leave in 2012/13 season looks good value to me or the 5/1 on offer with BetVictor to leave in 2013.

I totally agree with nors here ramos springs to mind,i think the press will be after avb for any reason from the off, plus if u believe rumours modric will be leaving aswell.
5/1 looks a cracking price if u can wait a year to get payed out could turn out to be a early xmas present tho. |

Don't waste your money boys. There's more chance of Arsenal winning a trophy than AVB being out by Christmas.
You gooners just hope it goes pear-shaped. Personally I think this will be the start of something beautiful for Spurs as he will have a lot more support from us than he did have at Chelsea.
The players have accepted AVB and to be honest why would anyone hang the word on anything a Chelsea player has to say? Most of what comes out of their mouths is worthless.
Modric is going. That is accepted but all clubs have to deal with losing players from time to time. It's how you replace them that matters. _________________ @ KanKeano_OLBG | Twitter |

Can't stand all this "Modric is going, so AVB" is losing the players.
Modric was going last year, only a good fight by the chairman lost it and if Spurs had not thrown away a near certain CL place we would hav wood claims on him staying. So Modric leaving is as much down to Harry as anyone.
Bale signed a new extension and he was very well touted as leaving so that is a massive tick in the managers box (yes I know he signed before but he definately knew the situation)
Abeyboyor looks like he might be signing if we can agree the pay scale so again another player not phased by the appointment.
New kit sponsors, new funding coming, new young coach. The times at the lane are a changing and it looks pretty good for the future.
As I've stated before in this thread I think it will take a season before we get the players and the system working so there will be pressure on AVB definately but I think the chairman knows that and won't react.
Anyway as long as the spurs fans are happy with the appointment and to be fair most are I could not careless what other teams think, it ain't really there problem.
Let's just judge in 3 years time not 6 weeks before his first season starts. _________________ www.twitter.com/overthefence200

agreed totally with last 2 posts
modric can go, tailed off badly last season and big money for him more than pays for siggy ade vertonghen etc... and they are 3 terrific signings...
thfc moving in the right direction hopefully to become proper challengers consistently
and as I mentioned previously also, who knows what would have happened next season with HR as manager...
I'm more than happy and doubly so having backed AVB too |

I dont like the way the media hound managers after a few bad results but sadly thats what they do and leevy has form for jumping the gun if things arent going right,i just dont think avb is as tatically aware as other managers, chelsea were poor under avb and thats putting it nicely his first season was a flop which ever way u look at it as kk says alot might depend on who replaces modric and pavchecko as adebayor can be hit or miss.
Only time will tell but heres spurs run in oct to dec

At the point AVB was sacked last season they were on a similar path to Arsenal.
Chelsea were 6th, Arsenal 5th. Both had big first leg deficits in the Champions League quarters. Chelsea were still in the FA Cup, Arsenal had already gone out. Tottenham were above both of them.
So if he was such a flop what about Wenger? The only difference between them last season was AVB got sacked and Wenger was given time to turn it around.
You can say he's tactically naive because he plays a high defensive line but when you go through a season unbeaten winning the League and Cup double as well as the Europa League then he is going to favour it.
At Tottenham he has a different set of defenders so the system might suit us. We won't know until the season has started and he may not employ it all.
Personally I'm happy Harry has gone and I'm happy that Levy took a gamble and went for a young manager who has a point to prove. Don't forget when Arsenal gambled on Wenger no-one outside of French & Japanese football knew him. They were all saying Arsene who? Sometimes you have to take a risk to win anything. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't.
We all know the press will try and put him under pressure because that's what they do. As long as the club, the players and the fans all get behind him then he should be alright. _________________ @ KanKeano_OLBG | Twitter |

to the people saying that AVB will have similar problems that he had at chelsea with the dressing room etc -
what a load of rubbish!
Spurs changing room does not have the same ego's that Chelsea do for a start, and the spurs players are a lot younger than their chelsea counter parts, and more open to newer training methods.
You only have to look at the comments coming from the players this week to see that they are enjoying actually doing some graft in training rather than 9am-12pm with HR.
Spurs also have the defenders to suit AVB's system with probably the quickets defence in the league - Walker and Kaboul are in the top 10 quickest defenders whilst BAE is no slouch and Verts the same.
