Tonight i decided to do a placepot for a change at Ayr and was lucky enough to get 20p worth of my £1.60 stake correct. When i checked Tote live pools the actual pool was £54 975. There was 172.5 winning units. 54975 divided by 172.5 equals £318.69 and some decimals. The payout was £232.60 with no carry forward. Don`t get me wrong i`m happy with my £46.52 for a small stake but how can that possibly be the payout. Does anyone on this site know the answer to this ?

I'd presume that they only pay a % of the pool Bob and the rest is the cut for the Tote to pay overheads and generate profit

OK thanks for that wish. Would have thought they would make those deductions before putting pool total up to save any confusion but at least i know if i ever have a placepot bet again.

The tote take around ~27% to cover admin costs and to make a profit. They wouldn't run it otherwise.

That's correct

The Tote take 27% out of every pool they run to cover admin costs, staff and other things
