Having watched Ireland in both their games so far this simply looks a case of how many? I've been really disappointed with Ireland, especially defensively, and the only thing that might save them from a drubbing is Italy's attack, they haven't exactly looked like they are going to score a load of goals in their matches so far. I'll probably look to dutch 2-0 and 3-0 in this match for a bet at around 11/4.

What does everyone else fancy?

Going with you monkey...

Ireland are out while Italy need the win for them to continue, which means the italians will be way more motivated to win this. Perhaps by a couple...

Fair is to say Ireland have been really dissapointing so far, but I think the squad realise that they have let down the fans and wont want to come home empty handed. I'd fancy Ireland to spoil Italy's party, especially with Trappatoni being Italian. Some of the older lads will see this as a sendoff game, and hopefully he'll give the likes of Mclean and Long a game. On a side note, really dissapointed to see what Roy Keane had to say about the fans, I thought they were absolutely brilliant, a credit to the country, and I hope the lads give them something to cheer about on Monday Fingers Crossed

Ireland to Draw..

Yes Agree with cianoo.
Yes Ireland to draw, and spoil Italy s party.
Pressure off of Ireland maybe they will play better.
Very dissapointed with Ireland, thought they would get
some points early, instead of leaving it to last game.
I thought Ireland would do really well, they let the fans down.
So by getting a draw today, it give them lift, and now Focus on
Quailfy for the World Cup.

If Ireland can somehow get a foothold in the game, they should aim to retain possession better than they did when given to opportunity in their previous games. If they can break up the Italians flow and push them back then they could find some luck from set pieces and corners, allowing them to bring up the height from the back. Reports are stating that Kevin Doyle could be restored to the starting line up?if so then his work rate could prove useful in pressurising the Italian defence into conceding both possession and the seemingly required set pieces.

However, the Italians seem to have formed a stereotypically solid looking defensive unit, marshalled by Buffon and Chiellini. If the impressive looking right wing back Maggio can push up and pin back Irish left back Stephen Ward then the Irish attack will lose width, driving the Irish central where Italy look strong.

Cant really see Ireland getting anything out of this match, whilst Italy could build up some confidence by bagging a few goals before going into the QF.

Maybe Italy 2/3-0. I think Cassano will get on the scoresheet too.

ITALY vs Ireland - ITALY-1.25 (AH) & ITALY WIN TO NIL
"Ireland were poor in their first game and didn't stand a chance against Spain. Spain did play near their best but Ireland havnt got the players to challenge teams like these. They keep saying they still have pride left to play for but they must be gutted with their displays and being knocked out so early. I'm not really sure what people expected from them as they are not a very good side. Italy have to win and win they should. They played well in their first game against Spain and deserved the draw. They were given a tough game by croatia and that draw makes it five games without a win. However, they will face a lesser side here and should have too much. "

italy revert back to a 4-4-2 of sorts and i think the lack of width might be more suiting to ireland restraining them in this game and putting on one last show.

no balotelli for Italy and i expect that to make them more formidable! as they will play more as a team

The Irish are probably wishing they were home already and won't put up too much of a fight.

it should be easy for the Italians and Pirlo and Cassano should have plenty of room to weave their magic.
Di Natale to score first @9/2 and 2 or more goals @13/2
cassano to score first @11/2 and 2 or more goals @8/1
Pirlo to score first @10/1 and anytime @100/30

Italy to win 4-0 @14/1 and 5-0 @30/1

also doing Italy and Croatia in a double ... pays 14/1

Ireland are up for it but Italy probably just about deserve their lead for their efforts in the Final 15 Minutes of the half.

My only hope of a bet tonight now is if this game somehow finishes 3-1, having Cassano as the First Goalscorer.

Ireland will keep on battling away though and Italy aren't safe yet. Ireland always a threat from any set piece.
