Nelix,
Cheers, but I am having enough problems with Windows7.
Auto-updates keep rewriting and changing everything.
Thanks anyway for the headsup.

TD,
Change your auto update settings and before you install them create a restore point and if the updates change anything then you can always roll it back. _________________ -

It's only a developer preview Nelix.
If it was a Beta version I'd be interested as I'd like to get learning it as soon as poss so I can get on to my exam for it as soon as the exam is out but a developer edition is very early in the process and I imagine it will be very buggy and not much fun at all!
A couple of months and I imagine the first Beta will be out. |

Well I've installed onto my hard drive with out using the virtual machine. I downloaded WinRAR and opened up the iso file and installed as a new pc. Im using it now to write this and the internet is sooooooo fast. will do a full review in a week or so and install it again to see how fast it is and what the features are like etc.
Glad you got it sorted donky. _________________ I stake low on bets.

It is going to be faster as it is not a full version though nelix but it could give an indication of how much faster it is compared to the windows 7 beta/developers version. _________________ -

true madbobmagee. I'm on the desk top now just installing updates. When you click the start menu on the desktop it goes into the market place and looks like its going to be 3d desk top touch screen kind of of thing. I am sure I heard in a article some where that kinect is going to be made for windows also as well as more on the touch screen.
At the moment im having trouble with the @ key its shift and the number 2 key instead of the @ sign on the right. _________________ I stake low on bets.

The updates are ready to be installed and im glad to see that my graphic card is in the updates. My graphic card is a XFX 5770 and in the updates its called. "Advanced Micro Devices, Inc, Driver update for ATI Radeon HD 5770 Series (Engineering Sample) so im guessing that it want be much hehe.
Later going to try and install a game and see what happens.
Also you have to have a Xbox live account which im just using the one ive already got. Sorry just a little excited lol
EDIT:
There are 2 version you can get of the windows 8 preview and they are
Windows Developer Preview with developer tools English, 64-bit (x64) also in 32bit
Windows Developer Preview English, 64-bit (x64) Also in 32bit
I've tried both now and 1st option is the best so far. You don't need the tools but this version seems more stable so i would go for the 1st option. Im using the Windows Developer Preview English, 64-bit (x64) build now and it seems to be very slow and full of bugs compared to earlier so tomorrow i will download the 1st option again and see if it is smoother. _________________ I stake low on bets.

|
|
|
Hi well this morning I installed windows8 preview again to see how long it took and this is what I did.
Make sure you got a spare Hard drive and don't use your primary Hard drive as my way wipes everything and if you do use your primary Hard Drive make sure you got the CD with your original windows OS on and that you can still put it back on if anything goes wrong or you just want to put the original OS back on.
Like i said be for there are 2 versions of windows developer preview and both version are in 64bit and 32 bit.
Windows Developer Preview with developer tools English, 64-bit (x64) also in 32bit
Windows Developer Preview English, 64-bit (x64) Also in 32bit
Go to Microsoft web site and download Windows Developer Preview with developer tools English, 64-bit (x64) also in 32bit. This is 4.83GB and took around 3 hours to download at average speed of 700KBS per sec. You can burn the file to a CD and format your pc as normal. If your like me and not got a cd you will have to download something what can open ISO files such as WinRAR etc. If you choose not to burn the ISO to cd then when you start windows preview you will loose it as it formats the hard rive and the reason why you shouldn't use your main hard drive for this preview.
What I did was open the ISO file using WinRAR and in the file go to the bottom and go to the setupexe which starts the setup for installing.
11:05 Open the ISO file and choose setup EXE.
11:09 Preparation choose go online to install updates now (recommended) Click next.
11:09 Checking your PC.
11:12 Tick the Agree to the Licence and click Next. another screen comes asking what would you like to keep. I chose nothing and clicked next.
11:12 Compatibility
11:14 Read installing Licence and windows developer preview is ticked and don't keep anything is ticked Click Next.
11:14 Installing windows developer preview
11:29 Restarting a loading circle and a black background at the point with a % sign mine restarted after 10 seconds.
11:34 50% preparing and restarts after a while and says. setup is updating registry files goes blank and comes back on.
11:35 Getting devices ready
11:36 preparing system 100% restarting
11:36 Windows developer preview screen Apply user settings
11:38 Licence Terms etc tick accept then click accept on the bottom right to continue
11:39 Green back Ground and then a personalize screen comes up
Enter your name and click next. Settings i chose Express you can alter these in the control panel later such as time and keyboard language as you would in windows 7.
Log on Enter your email address for windows live. At this point the keyboard is set up as US so the @ sign is shift and the 2 key.
Enter Pass Word and click next.
Creating your account.
preparing your account
11:43 preparing your PC
11:45 Windows installed on to the new desktop and sounds like its installing USB etc and fully working.
Will add more as I have more time _________________ I stake low on bets.
