Alright people; I am thinking of doing a mini tour of Germany for my 50th. I have been to Berlin, so this time i would be looking at Munich and Dortmund (take in the Dortmund vs Leverkusen match).
Any fellow OLBGers, got experiences of of these Cities?
Ta,

Munich is awesome lads, I went with the misses and a few friends for New Year 18 months ago and it's quite an experience dodging all the rockets and bangers (I felt like my granddad must've done 65 years ago ).
The big tourist places are brilliant and well worth a visit - the Hofbrauhaus and the Ratskeller served great food and the oompah band at the former was very entertaining, and I didn't get a hangover once which I think was because the beer has to conform to purity laws.
The underground system there is amazingly punctual and good value and is probably the best way to get around but walking round the centre of Munich is easy enough.
Dammo I don't know how long you're there for or exactly when in December but towards the end of the month the surrounding mountains start getting decent snow and there's a toboggan run down the Wallberg mountain (about an hour or so away by train) that really gets the blood pumping. It's about 5 miles long and there's a pub half way down - it was easily the most fun, and the closest I came to death whilst in Munich. Here's a link to the blog of someone else who did it with pics - http://monkeysandmountains.com/toboganning-toboggan-run
Cologne is nice too but we were only there for a day a few years ago at Christmas time and we spent a lot of time on the Christmas markets outside the massive cathedral. We did a tour of the chocolate factory there too which was good.
Also if you get a chance Bremen is really nice and it's home to the Becks beer factory too. I didn't know there were so many varieties of Becks and the gold one is one of the nicest beers I've had.
Have fun lads and if there's any specific questions you have I'll help if I can. _________________ on Twitter as @AndyLoganTips |
