This is a carry over from the good or bad thing thread.
For this season I decided to start tracking owners on the basis that they do, after all, make a significant contribution to racing. Keeping owners happy is surely likely to be of importance to trainers.
Another factor is that many companies continue to have corporate entertaining as an expense. What better than to have one of their horses win and to have been able to alert their guests to their horses' chances.
Also owners will have friends and, no doubt, be keen to let them know when their horse is in with a good chance, adding value to their friendship and with the hope of reciprocity.
Both sets are likely to have their favourite courses. |

I often look at the owners especially when a horse has been transferred to a new trainer by the owners (the trainer will want to impress the new owners)
If a horse is owned by the Kent Railway company and the trainer and owner have sent it to Mussleburgh for a 6 furlong £2000 race.
An owner who has alot of horses with a particular trainer and helps significantly to pay the bills often go for a touch somewhere surprising that is off their beaten track. + the info you have posted is significant.
So looks a good thread and worth investigating. _________________ Community Manager - Win A Forum Reward This Month.

As a starting point a qualifier must have had at least 5 winners over the past 5 seasons and must be posting a SR of at least 14% (1 in 7 winners).
Then there must be a level stakes profit of at least 10% on stakes. This is, of course, based on individual course rather than all courses.
Today there are 7 qualifiers.
2.50 Catt Mr A S Ward - Free Art
5.20 Catt Miss K Rausing - Memory Larle
6.20 Kem Mr P(eter) Winkworth (trainer) - Foxtrot Alpha
7.20 Kem Mr P WInkworth (Trainer) -Safari Mischief
7.50 Kem Bayfield, Thompson - Coda Agency
6.30 Naas Sean Jones - Mount Meru
9.00 Naas Sean Jones - Sixty Eight Guns.
I shall, from time to time, give figures that I have collated since commencing the tracking.
Please feel free to add any HELPFUL comments. |

Thanks Nors,
Your imput is good and helpful especially the first point but I will not be picking up on trainer switches. And hopefully, results will be good enough to make an owner keep the current trainer. It will take a long time for switches to start showing through in my figures.
The idea is to spot owners with favourite courses. Owners for Courses one might say. |

| Well, not a great start but at least Miss Rausing scored with Memory Lane (4/1). |

Although this is not really a catch all system but is aimed at spotting specific owners at their favoured courses, I shall keep stats for all qualifiers.
Current figures
7 runs for 1 win LSL 2.00
Today there are some that look to be no-hopers but they qualify so will be noted.
3.00 Newm HRH Princess Haya of Jordan - Buthelezi (33/1)
2.25 Newm George Strawbridge - Seelo (22/1)
3.25 Warw Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum - Mungo Park (9/2)
5.45 Leop Mrs J. S. Bolger - Teo's Sister (11/10)
My own stats for the Sheikh favour a Lay!!! 1 win from 27 races for All Aged races and a LSL of 10.00. But it qualifies so will count as a win bet. |

Maybe not a great start Eyenoagain but it was a winner and you can never proof a system over 1 day. I think this is a pretty nifty addition to the site and I for one am grateful that you are putting the effort in for it. _________________ "The problem with the future is that there are more things that could happen than will happen" - Plato (liberally paraphrased)

Thanks deswalker. It can get lonely doing this sort of thing if there is no feedback.
Today was not as bad as it looked with Jim Bolger's missus scoring with Teo's Sister (9/4). Also the delightful Princess Haya saw Buthelezi try with a thid at 12/1. Even the Sheikh managed a third at 5/1, showing willing but nevertheless underlining the Lay potential of his contribution.
So,
11 runs for 2 winners and a LSL of 2.75.
Yes, the jury is still out. But I can confirm that there are one or two who look very promising and they shall be revealed when their qualifiers show up.
Back tomorrow. |

3-00 Newm Joviality - HRH Princess Haya of Jordan. (14/1)
3.25 Newm Fiscal - HRH Princess Haya of Jordan. (8/1)
1.50 Newm Desert Law - J. C. Smith. (11/1)
2.35 York Show Rainbow - Jaber Abdullah. (12/1)
8.15 Ches Calaf - Dr. Marwen Koukash. (7/2)
7.45 Ches Vocational - Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum. (11/10
8.50 Ches Cravat - Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum. (7/1)
6.20 Newb Chatterati - Godolphin - NON RUNNER
5.50 Newb Tiger Cub - Lady Rothschild. (10/1)
6.35 Gowr Secrtetary of State - Derrick Smith.
Bit early for some prices - may add later.
Re Dr. Koukash - early days but since records commenced his 4 runners have produced 2 winners for a LSP of 11.00. Let's hope that he keeps it up as that alone would justify the effort, even though patience would be required.
And the Sheikh's two qualifiers are more serious than yesterday's. Serious but stats do not indicate reason for support. |

Hmmmmm. Only 2 winners (which is fine really, but the SPs were too low). Winners were Dr. Marwen Koukash and Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, 9/4* and 10/11* reapectively. Bad 2nd (11/8*) from Derrick Smith but a good 12/1 4th of 18 (handicap) from J. C. Smith.
The one positive is Dr. Koukash, who now posts 3 wins from 5 runs for a LSP of 13.25, which is quite exciting. It may seem a little early but it needs to be remembered that he has already achieved highly satisfactory results prior to continuing the trend. So, I am going to start a positive staking of his future qualifiers. This will start on a minimal 1 point to win but may well increase if he continues to validate his standing,
Overall figures now read:
20 runs, 4 winners for a LSL of 6.60.
The 20% SR is in excess of the qualifying level but SPs are disappointing. On the other hand these owners must have the ability to land a touch as is proven by the fact that they qualified with a 10% profit over stakes. So hopefully there will be some juicier SPs to come. Hopefully. |

Dr Koukash
3.25 Ches Corporal Maddox (25/1)
4.00 Ches Never Can Tell (13/2)
4.35 Ches Our Jonathan (6/1)
5.10 Ches Layla Jamil (20/1)
5.45 Ches Barnum (11/1)
2.05 York Masamah (13/2)
2.40 York Icon Dream (40/1)
3.15 York Pintura (33/1)
3.55 York Georgebernardshaw (33/1)
None meet criteria for real bets - more later on reasons. Still very worthwhile for stats.
