APRIL RACING CHALLENGE

What is it?
A friendly CHALLENGE with the added bonus of a CUP competition - prize-money available to the respective finalists each month (£10 to the winner, £5 to the runner-up)

When is it on?
Usually when there is an evening meeting in the UK or Ireland - see scheduled challenges below (there are sometimes a few DAY meetings too so please check)

Where do I enter?
Just reply to this thread with your selections for each race and you will be entered into one of the groups - see below for more details

How do I enter?
You need to post your selections for each race of the meeting. You can only have 1 selection per race (and 1 reserve) and you have to make one of them your NAP - ie best bet. The better your selections do then the more points you get; please also pick a NB in case your NAP is a Non-Runner

This is a fun competition although there is cash to winners & runners-up in both comps but please note the following>>

* selections should be posted up before the first race of a meeting
* no editing posts after the first race (if you do, you will score no points)
* if you only have enough time to get a single selection up before the off, then that's fine so long as you post the rest up in one go and no more than about 15mins later

How do I score points?

REGULAR POINTS

Horse finishes 1st in any race = 5pts
Horse finishes 2nd in any race = 3pts
Horse finishes 3rd in any race = 1pts

* NAP = you get double points for your NAP (best bet) so 10 points for the win, 6 points for 2nd and 2pts for 3rd

> points are shared for any dead heats and you score points for 1st 2nd 3rd if there are 3 runners or more

BONUS FOR BIG PRICES

Should you be one of the people who selects the biggest priced winner on the night at any one meeting then you will be awarded 5 BONUS POINTS. This only applies to the Group Stages (not the Knockout Stages)

* PLEASE POST A RESERVE SELECTION FOR EACH RACE

If your NAP is a NR then your NB becomes your NAP - if you don't pick reserves then this won't apply. If your NB is also a NR then you revert to the SP fav in the race you selected your NAP in (if there are joint SP favs then you will be allocated the one with the lowest race card number)

If you request that your non-runners go onto the fav then you will score no points for that race. To be fair to all, you cannot amend your NAP once the meeting has started

BONUS POINTS

If you are 1st in your group at the end of the night = +5pts to your total
If you are 2nd in your group at the end of the night = +3pts to your total
If you are 3rd in your group at the end of the night = +1pt to your total

* in the event of a tie for bonus points the points will be shared equally

GROUP STAGE

* when you first post your selections you will be randomly entered into one of four different groups

* if there are any late entries - either after the first race or "extra" entries the following night - then they will be put into a random division as well

* Your total points at the end of each meeting will be recorded and added together. After the final qualifying meeting of this month, the top two in each group will progress to a knock out stage

KNOCKOUT STAGE

* if you finished in the top 2 in your group then you make it through to the knockout stages

* the challengers can PM me or with their selections so there is no copying and I will post them before the off of the first race

CUP COMPETITION

* if you have the highest overall score from a single meeting next month you will get a place in the Cup. If you end up in the top two of your group though you will only enter the main knockout contest (not the Cup)

* Once the final Cup entrants are decided then they will all compete in a single group for one meeting. The top four in the group will then go through to the semi-final to play in a head-to-head format
