Woodland Mill 6/1 NAP
Does not look a very strong Hilary Needler and many of these have faced each other already and do not see many of the form lines being over turned Baileys Jubilee let many down last time at odds in and a few here finished in front of the horse that day so surprised its fav here I really like Woodland Mill who won the opening race of the flat season and beat a highly rated horse in the Dascombe yard in Ceiling Kitty who was franked the form since Woodland Mill disappointed on second start but hated the surface Last time out was unfancied on turf debut and started poorly abut made ground up but blocked at a crucial stage but flew in the end and showed a good turn of foot but finished fourth but would have finished closer with luck and compensation awaits Looks the kind of horse who will relish fast conditions but has a poor draw but turn of foot can make up for it but if out well who knows"[/list] |

3.30 Newton Abbot
Marodima - Top class Novice Chaser for Paul Nicholls in his younger days and also a winner over hurdles for Rebecca Curtis when rated in the mid 140's. Has generally shown a consistant level of form since joining Jamie Snowden and appears to have very strong claims in this contest. Marodima has a six pounds pull for 4 1/2L with The Chazer on most recent running and should be more suited to the good to firm going than that particular rival and I'm finding it hard to visualise The Chazer confirming that form. His main rival may well come in the shape of the Colin Tizzard trained Beside The Fire who will only be having his third start ever over the larger obstacles and that one's jumping could well be put under test on what looks to be a race which will be run at an end to end gallop. Mister Matt & Petito also command some respect but the former does not look particulary well handicapped and the latter is somewhat of an underachiever with only one career success to date from 43 outings and does not always appear 100% straightforward. The remaining three entries make no appeal at all to me as possible winners here. When pricing this race up I was 11/4 Fav Marodima - 3/1 Beside The Fire - 9/2 and upwards the rest ; so found it most welcoming to see the selection available as big as 9/2 - a price which makes a tremendous amount of appeal. Better still when I believe William Hill & Ladbrokes pay B.O.G to online bets. He is a must play for me @9/2 and given his front running style of racing it also should appeal to those punters that like to play the markets on Betfair ' In Running '.
Selections : Marodima ..... 6 Points Win @9/2 ( B.O.G ? ) William Hill & Ladbrokes.
Good Luck If You Play
** ( Would be a fantastic Each Way bet at the odds if you could just be sure that 8 went to post - but sods law normally sees one withdrawn )

SEDGEFIELD
2.20 - Paxtons and Case IH Powering Ahead Novices' Hurdle (Class 4) (4yo+) Winner £2,534 10 runners, 2m1f, Good To Firm
No. 1 Ghaabesh Win NB @ SP 9/4
Donald McCain trained 5yo gelding Ghaabesh made a winning hurdle debut in a sellers at Bangor, 26 days ago. Jason Maguire who rode Ghaabesh to victory will be in the saddle again. Current season Jason got 18% SR (8-44) in hurdle. In the last 5 seasons he got 33% SR (15-46) when riding hurdlers at this course. McCain's stable in great form this season with 25% SR (10-40) with his hurdlers. His stable got here in the last 5 seasons 28% SR (17-61) in hurdle. Current season McCain-Maguire combo in hurdle shows 30% SR (8-27) @ LSP £8.27/£1. Ghaabesh will be out in the field tongue-tied. If he continues with his win form, I think he can make it two in a row easily.
My Prediction
1st - Ghaabesh
2nd - Peaks Of Fire
3rd - Muwalla
2.50 - Paxtons and JCB Landpower Handicap Chase (Class 5) (5yo+ 0-100) Winner £1,819, 6 runners, 2m110y, Good To Firm
No.4 Whatshallwedo Win NAP @ SP 8/13
Only a week ago, Tim Vaughan trained 7yo gelding Whatshallwedo made a great C&D debut winning it by 12 lenghts. He has raced against atleast one runner from this race before multiple times successfully. He will be out in the field again with career best mark of 89, a rise of 7lb for the C&D win. Vaughan's stable in excellent form this season with 57% SR (4-7) in chase @ LSP £21.88/£1. In the last 5 seasons his stable got here 17% SR (2-17) with chasers. Richard Johnson will be in the saddle again. When riding Whatshallwedo he got 25% SR (1-4). He is riding well this season with 25% SR (4-16) in Chase @ LSP £17.38/£1. He got 25% SR (2-8) in chase at this course in the last 5 seasons. Current season McCain-Maguire combo in chase shows 67% SR (2-3) @ LSP £2.88/£1. I think Whatshallwedo can defy his penalty and win this weak race making it two in a row at Sedgefield.
My Prediction
1st - Whatshallwedo
2nd - Red Law
3rd - Quest Eclair
Rest of the selections updated on my blog.
Good luck!

My wednesday selections
2.10 Cappadacia, has had a run now and should improve this time for the channon yard who are having a nice time lately.
2.40 Sunnysideup, this Richard Fahy, horse should be better than last time and had attracted support, it is the favourite and I have took 7/2 should run a good race, I think the danger is Captain Baldin and G Lee.
3.10 Diman Waters, looks quite well treated if can get back too some kind of form I will take a chance with it today and I think Medici Time will run a big race. 15/2
3.40 Orbit The Moon, the dods horse went off the boil after some nice runs on good and fastish ground and its bad runs were on gdsft ground so I think that is to blame and will return to form today on the faster ground took 33/1.
4.00 Catch The Fire, is by Motivator, so the fastish ground should be rite up it's street has ran shockers on softish ground so far and that ground wouldent have suited and if the ground is still fast by 4.00 I can see this 1 getting placed or winning at big price, 5 points e/w at 33/1 this morning.
4.40 Lap Of Honour, won around this time last year on fast ground and the trainer has been out of form of late but can see this 1 winning at sedgefield, today 7/1 |

Folkestone – 6:45
Maxentius – 11/8 NAP
Peter Chapple-Hyam is 4/5 (80% S/R) with his 2 year old runners here in recent times. Heard good reports about this colts work on the gallops. Stable fully expect this to do the business this evening. It has already been backed from 5/2 this morning. |

Madame St Clair 11/1
"I think Madame St Clair is quite big here and will show up better then last time Ran in three decent maidens and ran not to bad and many winners have come out of the races The last maiden has worked out well with Fallen For You and others have won and behind Madame St Clair that day was Eastern Destiny who i backed yesterday and won so looks on a gold mark through form lines Eastern Destiny won off 72 so 63 looks good for my selection Ran twice in handicaps and disappointed but needed the first run and second one trip was too far and ground was awful Will enjoy the trip and ground now" |
