Pram+Toys come to mind
This is all based on David presuming he and not Trapmouses had the right to
post that horse, whos to say Trapmouse never picked it out before you and
due to his work commitments he couldn't get his post up before yours,
You can't tell someone that you presume they are doing wrong and kick off on
them, theres no rule stating you can't play tactical (even IF he was)
which all runners do in any sport, |

Congratulations Garlic Sauce on your win and also Brandysnap for 2nd place. Started last month quite badly myself and really looking forward to this month. Well done meoldmate as well for running this competition, pretty impressive points tally for a lot of people and the write up covering the our family day out race was a classic. Roll on the one a day. Showed a profit on this month despite failing to back a 18/1 winner in my one a day but won't make that mistake again!

On the basis of Blueboy's logic , whoever is leading on the final day could 'tactically' choose a 2 runner race - even a walkover if there was one !
Nothing in the rules to stop it. _________________ One-a-day history

That wouldn't happen as we would kick the race out as a group,
but is that another road you want to go down, the leaders what top 3 4 (I dunno
who decides) can't post the final race
what about the 5th guy can he/she no matter how many points are between them,
I know another rule, the leader can't pick the fav on last day
How far do we go down to send Meoldmate a horse on final day, as 100/1 winner
could turn it all around, or do we all send him our final selections,
and the stragglers who post late just post on thread..I don't know where it ends, |

Blueboy , With respect on one hand you say it is a battle of tactics and in your next post you say that if the group doesn't like those tactics it overrules them !
One of the charms of this competition is that it is NOT the same as others , so making it the same would detract from it's appeal.
Take the scenario yesterday.
Let's assume Brandysnap was the only one that was realistically going to gatecrash the top two places.
If I had been able to call in home at around 18.00 yesterday and seen the invitation to send an alternative selection , it would have needed to be Super Duplex as it was likely to score me sufficient points if finishing in the first two. So I post that at 18.14 and say to Brandysnap , sorry but this is the new game of tactics !
Would this have been hailed as brilliant or skullduggery ?
According to some this would be the former , but I would not stoop so low.
Now we have a situation where it is suggested that in this competition , tactics should play a part - but in a pseudo-dictatorship it is stated that if we don't like the tactics we kick them out - very diplomatic !
The sister comp ( football one a day ) permits matches from any league , anywhere in the world - so as part of tactics ( again not specifically barred in the rules ) a 19 runner handicap in Uruguay would be permissible if we had an entrant from that country wanting to play tactically and use local knowledge.
Alternatively , Meoldmate , presumably with the help of Blueboy , could draw up a list of those who CAN use tactics and a list of those who CAN'T !
That sounds an ideal solution as far as Blueboy is concerned.
It all sounds like anarchy to me. _________________ One-a-day history

So how far do we go down the list that we all need to pick a different horse,
is there enough different horses in the race with a realistic chance to go around
us all, or is it first come first served, I got dibbs on that horse first..
I suppose the only way forward if MM is up for it is to send him final day selections
and hope that MM doesn't abuse his power to switch his on seeing ours
Only kidding I trust MM and thats the only way we could do it, |
