There is a really smart prospect running in the Group 2 Prix Hocquart at Longchamp tomorrow called Masterstroke. Trained by Andre Fabre, he is a Monsun half brother to a handful of winners including useful pair Burj Nahar and Villarrica, out of an Oaks third who was a half sister to Sea The Stars, Galileo, Black Sam Bellamy, All Too Beautiful etc.
He took a newcomers' event in smooth fashion at Saint-Cloud on his sole outing at two, and made a successful return to action in a minor contest over this course and distance last month, readily accounting for the opposition having travelled well throughout. Tomorrow is obviously a jump up in grade, but he has looked a Pattern class performer on both outings to date and looks potentially the best of the dam's progeny so far, and he is obviously bred to be right out of the top draw. Interesting that he will carry the French branch of the Godolphin operation's silks, having worn Sheikh Mohammed's colours so far and, who knows, an easy victory could lead to a transfer to the UK Godolphin operation, a la Rewilding. Has a very similar profile to that one at this stage, and I'm surprised he was ever sent to Fabre given the French Derby distance was lowered recently.
Anyway, interesting to see how he goes tomorrow upped in grade, and although a few of his rivals have achieved more than this colt to date, he ought to have plenty more left to come and can hopefully maintain his unbeaten record here en route to something like the Grand Prix de Paris. _________________ Dark Horses 2013 - Flat

interestingly trainer Richard Price who has done wonders for Loyal N Trusted is sending one out over hurdles today, first of this season! Worth seeing how it does JOSEPHINE MALINES - 3:20 Worcester. Also has a debutant out in the 4:50 HARRY DORE. _________________ Love Outsiders...Hate Favourites

3.20 Worcester ....... the cash coming in for Brunston from the Brendan Powell stable really interest me - has fair claims on the form of his win at Hereford last June and was also successful at Wolverhampton on the AW in February off a mark of 80 over 12 furlongs...... I'd expect the 16/1 to go at Bet 365 - SkyBet and Stan James........ Coral's 10/1 is nearer the mark ... Good Luck If You Play |

2.10 Plumpton
Turn Over Sivola 4/1 NAP
I think Turn Over Sivola could prove useful and will perform much better on first start over hurdles Had for bumper runs and ran really well in them without winning and them bumpers for hot races and some good horse have come out of them Turn Over Sivola really travels well in races and have a feeling Thornton and King can have another winner here Alan King has a great record here and in the last five years has had 23 winners in 62 races so very good ratio" |
