BORUG
This horse was a very interesting entry over a mile today, having previously competed in The Queens Vase over 2 miles. He stayed on well into 3rd and I think that over 10f ish this horse might be very hard to beat indeed off a mark in the mid 80's. _________________ "The problem with the future is that there are more things that could happen than will happen" - Plato (liberally paraphrased)

Flaming Gorge from Paul Nichol's stable runs in the 3.40 @ Fontwell Park on Friday 20th April
Flaming Gorge finished 3/4 length behind Baseball Ted at Exeter 18 month ago giving him 12lb. Baseball Ted won 3 since including today 17th April.
Flaming Gorge also split Hunt Ball who won, with Easter Meteor (Also won 17th April) 43 length behind in 3rd at Towcester in February Class3 Handicap.
On the performances (wins) of those 2 winners Tuesday, Flaming Gorge should have a strong chance in the Class4 Handicap on Friday. _________________ Oscarwolfe |

| Van Ellis - ( Mark Johnston ) : Promising debut when fifth in a Tattersalls sprint at Newmarket. Bred to appreciate further and should progress from the outing. Sure to be placed to the best of his ability by his trainer and is one to keep an eye on in the coming months. |

AEGAEUS
Monsun son of top-class middle distance performer Ouija Board; weak in the market on debut and not given a hard time, towards the rear throughout and shaping like a stayer; will do a lot better in due course, and handicaps over 12f+ are likely to prove his forte.
SURAJ
Galileo half brother to Cheveley Park/Coronation winner Indian Ink who shaped with plenty of promise on debut in a well-contested 10f maiden at the Craven meeting, making steady but sustained headway for hand riding from over a furlong out; will do a lot better with that under his belt; ought to stay 12f. _________________ Dark Horses 2013 - Flat

NO DOMINION
Definite signs of promise today on third maiden run for James Given, in a fair quality of race. Held up at rear and staying through the pack without being pushed too much for a fairly close up 5th. Interesting to see how he progresses once faced with handicap company. _________________ "The problem with the future is that there are more things that could happen than will happen" - Plato (liberally paraphrased)

Nice spot, Des. He will do much better now qualified for handicaps.
MAWASEM
Street Cry from the family of Alexandrova; towards the rear and denied a clear run two furlongs out, tenderly handled thereafter but making eyecatching late progress to finish ninth in the Wood Ditton; potential to do much better in time, particularly over 10f.
BASSARA
Daughter of Oasis Dream who shaped better than the bare result on her second outing, racing in a small group on the stands' side and travelling comfortably for a long way, not knocked about as she gradually faded; needs one more run for handicaps, and no surprise to see her excel in that sphere over 1m+ _________________ Dark Horses 2013 - Flat

| Top Cop - ( Andrew Balding ) : Ran as if the outing would do him plenty of good when finishing midfield behind Es Que Love at Newmarket on his seasonal debut. Should be up to winning a h'cap or two over 6 furlongs and maybe worth another try over seven. Stable runners can often improve for the run. |

| Carlton Blue - ( Paul Cole ) : Well made son of Aussie Rules with a pedigree to suggest that a furlong or two further than the minimum trip will suit as a juvenile. Looked in need of the run of his debut at Newbury in April and may be one to watch over the summer months. |

ENGLISHMAN
Speedily bred son of Royal Applause who made a winning debut, albeit was momentarily caught flat footed over a furlong from home, picking up in fine style between rivals to mow down Smoothtalkinrascal close home; will need 6f on that evidence; potentially a Coventry type.
VOW
Very highly regarded half sister to Beaten Up and Harris Tweed who did exceptionally well to make a winning debut, green and towards the rear for the most part; made sustained headway from three furlongs out, really getting going inside the final furlong overhaul Everlong close home; Oaks prospect.
CAPHENE
Half sister to the smart Classic Remark and out of the high-class Claxon; shaped with a good deal of promise in a well-contested fillies' maiden at Newbury on debut, never seriously involved but finishing off nicely for hand riding; ought to win a maiden sooner rather than later on that evidence.
REQUIRE
Close relation of Ask who shaped as though the run was needed on debut, pushed along sooner than most but holding her position nicely for a long way, sticking to her task well without ever posing a serious threat; type to improve markedly with racing; should stay well in time. _________________ Dark Horses 2013 - Flat

Two from me from one hot sprint handicap yesterday...
LUI REI
2lbs out of the handicap here, he lost about 3 lengths at the start but stayed on well into 3rd despite being better over further and meeting trouble in running. Promise for the season ahead off marks in the mid 90's over 6f or a strong run 5f.
CAPTAIN DUNNE
Great old horse, travelled best today before flattening late on over 5f on soft ground. It would be unwise to read too much into that form and better is possibly to come on decent ground and maybe when headgear is back on. _________________ "The problem with the future is that there are more things that could happen than will happen" - Plato (liberally paraphrased)

Absent Amy-Class 6-6fs Wolver-W Musson.
Whilst Mayo Lad would have caught most people eye with a tremendous run down the outside to get up on the line, the run of Absent Amy went largely unnoticed. Held up at the back horse made steady progress despite being forced out wide on the bend and was running on steadily when baulked by a horse drifting right, but ran on again strongly to finish a never nearer 6th, should step up on this over further. |
