9.00 Kempton – Royal Selection (3pt Win) (NAP)
Karen George’s Royal Selection has not been seen since landing a class six maiden at Kempton back in November of last year (139 days) but I believe will be capable of returning from a lengthy break to win again. This four year old filly is very lightly raced, never run as a two year old with her debut coming as a three year old and has since made only five starts, she was unsuccessful from two starts on the turf and her debut on the all-weather was not the most encouraging but she seemed to get the hang of things when runner up at Kempton two starts over a mile but did not find much close home and then when switched down to 6f again at Kempton she notched up her first win last time out in a race where she was well in control in the final furlong and stayed on well. She comes here today to make her handicap debut and has been given a mark of 60 but she comes here remaining over 6f which is a wise move, can she win off this mark is the main question and I believe that she can, I am not sure she would win off much higher than this but her mark of 60 should be winnable. Of the others in the race, Oh My Days should have a chance here on just his fourth start but Bilko Pak is the main threat, not been in any kind of form and yet to win a handicap but his mark over the past year and half has gone from 82 down to today’s mark of just 58 and he has a 5lb claimer in the saddle and I would be surprised if he did not start hitting form soon off these low marks but for me I believe that Royal Selection will return from her break and go on to land this race on her handicap debut.

2.40 Nottingham
Dinkum Diamond 11/4 NAP
Dinkum Diamond is the one to beat for me and was so consistent last season Goes well fresh which is a big bonus and last year on seasonal opener got third to useful Genki Still lightly raced for a sprinter and placed in ten of ots fourteen starts Deserves a nice big win after many placed efforts in top races and will take this race and hopefully go into better things in the season Third to Deacon Blues is hot form and flew in that race and nearly won it and will take some stopping" |

3.10 NOTTINGHAM RUSTY ROCKET 33-1 1pt ew
13 go to post for this CLASS 4 sprint race and it is a fairly competetive heat indeed.Rusty Rocket comes in here the outsider of the group from the PAUL GREEN stable. It was beaten a long way on its season reappearance at WOLVES on MARCH the 15th beaten 21 lengths by REDAIR.That is a decent beast and it was decent enough race with all the participants who have reappeared either winning or placing.
I am hoping that was a pipe opener for RUSTY ROCKET,and also it has not shown in the past a liking for poly track. In its last turf appearence it won beating repeater over 7f in a class 4 handicap on teh 17th september of last year quite easily. It can do 5f well having placed twice on turf in 2011 and should be prepped and fit here for bold run at nice odds.Should have the fitness edge on most of these,is well drawn and a win would not be out of the question imo,. _________________ *SPEED RATINGS WITH MARKET SUPPORT BLOG*

BARROW ISLAND
7.50 DUNDALK @ 7/1
The 1m handicap at Dundalk this evening looks one of the most interesting races of the day and I think Barrow Island ought to have a very good chance of winning this having made a pleasing return to action at Leopardstown a couple of weeks ago which should have him primed for action.. Although beaten 5 lengths into 8th it was a pretty good race over a trip a furlong shorter than his best..
The selection is best judged on his efforts last season over a mile where he won two races at this trip, his maiden on his first run at this venue and when winning a 5 runner Leopardstown handicap back in August.. Although it was a small field, 3 out of the 4 behind have won handicaps subsequently.. Aside from his winning form the selection showed d up well in a valuable premier handicap at the Curragh won in good style by the Andrew Oliver trained Super Say.. The selection was 5th of 22 but beaten only 3 lengths.. That race was stacked with proven performers like Drombeg Dawn, Hujaylea and Moran Gra to name a very few.. If the selection could put in a performance of that quality this evening he would be very hard to beat..
Mick Halford does very well at this track and does very well with this type of runner in handicaps.. He had a good winner of a handicap last week with Banna Boirche so his string are in decent form.. Shane Foley rides the track well and has ridden this one in the past.. This looks a very good bet this evening folks.. Best of luck all! |
