No.8 MAWAAKEF 1st

Formerly owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum, Mawaakef had 4 starts for his new owner The Three Honest Men and yard. His best finish was very much improved 2/8, just 1 3/4L behind the winner at Southwell 48 days ago. Mawaakef got 1 win and 2 seconds from 8 starts on turf. His sire Azamour was 7f-12f winner on turf. Only 1lb increase to 85.

J R Jenkins stable in excellent form. In last 14 days, J R's yard got 29% SR (4-10). Current season J R got 33% SR (1-3) on turf @ LSP of 8 Pounds. In last 5 seasons, his stable got 13% SR (2-15) with 4YO+ runners at this course.

Frederik Tylicki will take the ride for the second time. He got 1 second from 1 start with Mawaakef. In last 14 days, he got 21% SR (4-15) and it includes 20% SR (1-4) for J R's yard. Current season he got 22% SR (2-9) on turf @ LSP of 17 Pounds. Last 5 seasons, he got here 23% SR (3-13) @ LSP of 5.08 Pounds with 4YO+ runners.

Drawn at stall 10.

2:00 Catterick - Lord Buffhead 8/1 e/w NAP

Lord Buffhead ran its best race in a while when coming second last time out at Wolverhampton towards the end of last month.
The horse takes a small rise in weights here, but i don't think it will take away too much from the horse, who looks in a solid position to grab at least a placing.

Wish Again as favourite just doesn't look or feel right, and has not got the recent form to suggest it can justify the 4/1 on offer right now.

Lord Buffhead hasn't won since Auguest 2011, but did so heavy/soft ground, and while the course at Catterick is a little firmer than that, it is still officially soft in places, and i feel that after a long time on the poly, Buffhead can make its mark on the turf here.

I don't like the favourite in the 1.50 Lingfield, it looks far too short at 7/4 and it was beaten last time at similar odds

now the question is do you back two or three against it or just Lay it at 2.8, the place Lay at 1.48 is tempting Confused

the 5lb claimer riding it is poor as well Confused

place Lay for me at 2/1, so many of these are in there with a fighting chance imo

Well budgegraham, we think alike, except i have done that tactic with Fanning, which leads me onto my outside chance in the 5:10.

Change The Subject 20/1 e/w

Change the Subject looks a lively outsider in the penultimate race at Nottingham.
This is a step up in class, no doubt, and it brings a lot of the top jockeys with it, but Change the Subject has been performing very well in the class 4 and 5's.
At this distance it has won 1 from 6 and placed in two further.
I was initially put off by the run of form on the standard tracks, Lingfield, Wolverhampton and Kempton, but its last visit to good to soft yielded a second place finish, so it think the value is there over this one mile trip.

This horse hasn't finished outside the placings in its last five races, so i don't see why it can't place here.

Not sure if I will be betting at all today. But I have been paper trading the races and I think that this will lose. Good luck if you Lay it. Totally agree that it is a poor price.... Confused

RK

Good luck, I see you've gone for Sinfonica, which is my pick for the one a day comp, so you can cross that off your list Laughing

SmoggyFever with a good write up for the 5.10 you should try the "one a day" comp.
