Hey all.
Went down to reading this week with high hopes following a very good prep for the events and have to say im not happy about the overall result down there although havnt done myself much damage in terms of the rankings.
Saturday
First round i drawn Joe Cullen, Very good young player who has now made the World Championships the last 2 years in a row. Both of us are playing well and getting some good results, both quick players and was spoke about by most in there as the most 50/50 game we both could hope for on that day. After going 2-0 down i put together 6 very good legs and was very happy with taking this one 6-2.
Quite the opposite in the 2nd round. Raced into a 3-1 lead agaisnt Terry Jenkins but let this one slip away to a 6-3 defeat. Big turning point in the game came at 3-2 to me on my darts. I missed the bull for a 12 dart hold of throw only to see Terry take out a 130 on the bull to break me in 12 darts. Terry then had the throw from there and took full advantage from this point.
Sunday
Looking for a few more wins i was drawn agaisnt a good friend of mine Nigel Heydon. A very good player from just up the road in lemington who alot of you will no from the Grand slam and the world championships. Not the best game the two of us have had and a few missed shots put me behind quickly 5-1. After a good fightback to 5-5 i was missed a dart at tops in the last leg and went out 6-5.
overall not too much to report this time. Still sat nice in the rankings for the worlds and have to defend rather than chase which is much better than last year. This time last year i hadnt even played an event so to be sat in the positon i am right now is a big positive and a sign that things could and should be going to plan this year.
up next is uk open events. Already in the finals in june at the Reebox so am playing for my seeding in that event. Aiming for a top 32 spot which will mean i miss the first 2 rounds and join round 3 on Friday.

Hello all
Well after a long weekend in Barnsley got to say im overall quite happy with the outcome which at one point looked a dream.
Friday night we had a playoff to play in the euro championship in vienna later this month. When the draw came out i drawn the highest ranked player not already in which was mark hylton. Draw wise not ideal but a winable game still.
lost this game 6-4 which came down to just one break of throw at 4-4.
Saturday and it was back on the uk open order of merit. This time i drawn John Part 3 times world champion. Played very well in this game but missed alot of doubles at important points and dont think a 6-3 defeat realy shown how the game went. Very dissapointed to have lost this one but still was one more day to go.
And on to the best day of the 3. Sunday seen me put together a nice string of results and move up the rankings once again
Drawn a pre lim agaisnt one the new comers to the pdc tour this year Andrew Johnson. Was a close game early on put a important break from me with a 156 finish closed this game off and i ran out with a nice 6-3 win
Round 1 proper and i got Arron Monk toughest game of the day i think for me here. Great young player arron and former world youth champion. 3-1 down arron left himself 24, this point i taken out a 145 finish which turned the game around full swing. Ended this one with a 6-4 win.
Round 2 expecting to play Andy Hamilton a young player called adam hunt came to the board. Adam had taken out the hammer the round before. Knowing adam and knowing he is a great young player knew i couldnt take it lightly but also knew he was on a come down from beating such a big player. Got stright into things in this one and ran out a 6-1 winner
Board final and i drawn a BDO switcher in Gino Vos. Tight game all the way down and took this one 6-4. Not alot to say about this one realy other than it was a quite equal game.
last 16 and it was richie howson from essex. Good battle, few nerves and a few missed big shots that would have changed the result from a 6-4 defeat to a win. wiring a 130 and 122 finish at big moments. But no shot bigger than howsons 180 to leave 20 at 5-4 up with me sat on a 147. that 180 turned 147 in 6 to a 147 or out.
overall not a bad weekend at all i will go up the rankings and realy keep the world championship dream alive. As far as the uk open goes im now 39th and pretty much safe for a 2nd round entry for the grand finals at the reebox in june. one more uk open event to go and then this tour ends on june 7-10 at the reebox stadium on sky sports. Cant wait to return there.

well a weekend of good and bad news has just happend
the bad news was as far as the results have gone this weekend it was 2 6-4 defeats despite playing well so some fine tuning will be needed to ensure this doesnt happen again.
The good news comes from the long term of the UK open event. All 8 events have now been done meaning its off the the reebok next month for the live tv finals.
The event starts on thursday june 7th and i will enter on this day in round 2 agaisnt opponants to be annouced on this thursday. _________________ TWITTER ---- @theedgar501 |
