will be interested to see what David Pipe does with The Package who fits many of the Nick Mordin trends - he hasn't been out this season and I am wondering if there is a problem or whether they are waiting for the weights
has had only 11 chase starts, won at 3 mile 2 furlongs, 9 years old, won a class 1 race, not a novice last season...
one to bear in mind |

| Certainly has the ability to run well Judoman but I'm not entirely sure he took to the big fences back in 2010 ; no doubt though that connections have some plans for him - will be interesting to see the festival h'cap entries when they come out. |

I have just read a qoute from David Pipe regarding The Package, David said the following in December of 2009
| Quote: |
"The Package showed that he could be a Grand National horse of the future when landing what has become a recognised trial for that great race, the Neptune Investment Management Handicap Chase.
Given a classic waiting ride by Timmy Murphy, the well-backed 6-1 chance was always travelling kindly as Ashley Brook made the best of his way home coming down the hill.
The latter was stopped in his tracks by a bad mistake three out and soon after The Package was in control as The Tother One emerged as a threat.
The Package was always holding his pursuer, the 3-1 favourite, and won by a length.
Winning trainer David Pipe was grounded by the fog which ensured his helicopter never left Pond House, but owner David Johnson was on hand to greet the winner.
Johnson said: "He was spotted by the late Tom Costello whose memory lives on and we always felt there was a big race in him.
"We got three pounds for the three lengths he was beaten at Wincanton, so the form has worked out well.
"He was foot perfect, apart from a slight mistake at the second, and these days he's settling and jumping better.
"I guess he could be a National horse but more likely for 2011, as I still have Comply Or Die." |
But he ran him in the 2010 National where he unseated his rider |

You can almost guarantee that Ballabriggs will be in the field again this year can't you? So the top weight will be a minimum of 160 OR?
Just trying to work out how my fancies fit into Nick Mordin's trends. _________________ "The problem with the future is that there are more things that could happen than will happen" - Plato (liberally paraphrased)

| thanks for the contributions about the Package - the fact that have left him in the final 82 declarations says a lot to me for a horse that hasn't run for 2 years. I would want to see him have at least 3 runs and a win amongst them and there is not much time for that |

This was not a declaration stage - it was the initial entry stage ;as you will be no doubt aware there is no supplementary stage for the big race so without making the entry this week there is no other way of getting in. If they aren't in it - they can't win it. The Package may well be one to keep an eye on in the coming weeks should he make it to the track but as you indicate a rushed preparation is not ideal and you would certainly want to see a couple of runs under his belt before parting with any cash...... Be Lucky. |

The Package is an over rated one.
That one certainly crossed off my list, the long Lay off 2 years
is a worry, with 4 and half miles, will be very testing for him.
Certainly want be on my list, i want a horse with at leat 3 to 4
runs under their belt, be for deciding to have a bet.
So will be waiting for the weights, be for i start selecting.
Then wait for Cheltenham, then i will have a rough idea.
As anything can happen, with in next 7 weeks..
Love this time of year.. |

the package does not have the physical attributes to jump grand national fences, barely bigger than go native.
its a bit early to be investing on the national[dont know how u guys do it, cheltenham is first] but niche market at 33/1 is worth a few shillings ew |

| When are the weights announced? If a horse called always right is running, then I will be investing on it! |

Oh good weights is on Valentines day..
1: Still want be having an early ante post , fair too early.
Will wait be for Cheltenham, to have a better picture .
As anything can happen now to Cheltenham.
2: Burnt my fingers too many times, betting early, only last few years
id decide to wait, as they still shocks in the National like that 100/1 shot more recently. |
