State Of Play has next to no chance if it comes up an absolute bog - he is a better horse on decent going

Only two runs on soft probably points to the connections thinking the same.

However, one of those runs on soft was the 2006 Hennessey which he won off 11st 4lb. He'll do ok on soft, but it won't be to the taste of many of the other runners over this distance.

No chance on gd/gd-sft IMO, best chance on sft/hvy at this stage of his career.

My concern with Giles Cross is that he is a bridle horse that will not find anything when push comes to shove. At the end of the Haydock race he only just held off Neptune Collonges when he should have won by a few lengths IMO and has never struck me as a battler.

Probably one to trade out of in running if he takes to the fences as he will travel as well as anything and I would prefer Le Beau Bai if it came up heavy.

I am looking forward to Drogersons Grand National summary after last years selection romped in !
My biggest bet for this years National is becauseicouldntsee,fell early last year when well fancied,ran well at the festival,should get the trip(just).I hope it settles quickly,if so should have a decent chance.
The horse is the right age,got a very good racing weight,just needs the right jockey and lots of luck.

Is anyone going to do a comprehensive break down of the race like last year? I remember reading a post that ruled out horses and when we were left with one, it was the winner...

I'm new to the site and I'm not too clued up when it comes to Horse racing so you're more than likely going to see my posts in the Football section.

I'm looking at these four any stats or anything would be appreciated I've also had a few quid on West End Rocker at 18s

is the ground really going to be that bad? the rain has come over the weekend but the rest of the week now theres hardly any rain for the next four days

be good to soft wont it? half the course is good to soft already on turftracks

http://www.turftrax.co.uk/going_maps.html

lookslike safe jumping ground and just about the whole field should act on good to soft?

so i dont see much point backing mudlarks imo

theres always a story behing the grand national winner, wonder who it will be Confused

dennis getting off giles cross, so the horse wont be over weight
would be an intresting one

racecourse forecast

Been ill all weekend and still suffering now.
Got a fair bit of work on today and then Wigan v Utd tonight, will probably be tomorrow with a bit of luck, but I've already posted the basics of it up earlier in the thread will finalise it all and get it up.

@DAVIDADAN

If I were on him now at fancy prices I would seriously think about getting out. Latest news from connections;

Quote:
"He's not a complicated ride. The softer the better for him. He's a heavy-ground horse, which is one reason why he's run only 16 times in his life; he doesn't get his conditions that often. If he gets his ground, he'll run well..."

(from sportinglife.)

And latest weather reports from the BHA website;

Quote:
AINTREE - Jump (Updated:11/04/2012 at 08:00:42)

Going
Mildmay & Hurdle - Good to Soft, Soft in places
National - Soft, Good to Soft in places
(GoingStick: Mildmay 6.4 Hurdle 6.0 National 5.9 on Tuesday at 12:00)

Rails
All Hurdles positioned on outside. Will move inwards, onto fresh
ground, each day

Weather
Wednesday - dry o/night. Bright spells with poss' showers 10C.
Thursday, Friday & Saturday - remaining unsettled. Cloudy with
sunny spells, with poss' shower. Cooler 8C, cold overnight 0C.

Cloudy with sunny spells, a little less torrential than previously advertised. Confused
