Current voting on the number of Irish winners show 30 % reckon there will be 6 or less winners. A percentage that may will increase in the coming weeks |

I think Flemenstars performance today told me two things, hes a bloody good horse and two that Bog Warrior could be a machine.. To be fair its not very difficult to pick holes in the form of Sprinter Sacre.. He won an egg and spoon race at Doncaster first time up and there has been excuses given for Peddlers Cross's no show at Kempton during Christmas, so if you believe the McCains and in fact there was something amiss with Pedlers on that day, then we are taking 2/1 about a horse who hasnt exactly done anything at the top level yet and at Cheltenham that just isnt the kind of horse I want to be siding with..
I believe the Arkle at Cheltenham would be the perfect race for Bog Warrior to run and to be honest if he ran id expect him to win.. You need to stay to win that race and Bog Warrior showed he did just that at Fairyhouse in the Drinmore.. The RSA has been mentioned but lets be honest, Last Installant and First Luitentant look certain to be in that race for Gigginstown so if Bog Warrior runs anywhere at Cheltenham it will be in the Arkle IMO.. The only thing putting me off a big bet is if they skip Cheltenham and go for the Powers Gold Cup on Easter Sunday instead |

Thanks for the input Jamie..very welcome
To be honest, I dont see Giginstown by passing Cheltenham if they think they are in with a real shout |

| 25% of the votes cast to date think there will be more than 10 Irish trained winners at the Festival. very difficult to find 11 at this stage imo. they will have to win a few handicaps ( which of course they may well do ) |

Sorry Roger but i cannot see how the Irish will win a double figure amount of races over the 4 days, that's a guaranteed 2 per day needed plus the odd one here and there.
Not for me i am afraid, like i said earlier, i am not even sure if both Sizing Europe & Hurricane Fly will win |

I agree with you Micko, I am struggling to find 7-8 at the moment , never mind double figures. Ok, maybe a couple of handicap "dark horses" , maybe a novice hurdle and the bumper.
Hurricane Fly & Quevega maybe bankers, but maybe. The same applies to Sizing Europe |

Quevega will probably win, not sure about both Hurricane Fly & Sizing Europe winning, if either i would go for Hurricane Fly.
The Irish won the Bumper in 6 consecutive years from 2004 to 2009 but in the last 2 years, The Irish have failed to finish in the first 2, were their horses weaker or are English Trainers getting horses better prepared for the race?
So if they win with the 3 mentioned, what else will they win, most probably the Cross Country Chase and maybe 1 or 2 handicaps. |

| FLEMENSTAR has to be the irish hope in the novice chase given that BOG WARRIOR is unlikely to make the trip. Finished 7l behind the BOG in heavy ground but won a grade 1 in the soft at leopardstown by 19 lengths from a good field including blackstairmountain who itself won a grade 1 novice chase on same course when the BOG fell. |

We have just recently had our trials meetings @ Cheltenham & Newbury.
The last of any Cheltenham trials will be staged @ Naas this Sunday.
I don't know the runners yet but there are 3 graded races on the card which will all probably have a clue or 2 towards Cheltenham
2.55 - Woodlands Park 100 Club Nas Na Riogh Novice Steeplechase (Grade 2) over 2m. 4f.
3.25 - PaddyPower.com Novice Hurdle (Grade 2) over 2m.
4.05 - PaddyPower.com Steeplechase (Grade 2) over 2m. |

Micko, Cheltenian was Irish trained on his first start in a bumper, Destroyer Deployed was bought from the Irish Point to Point scene and Aupcharlie Irish trained, so the first three home in last years Chelt bumper originated in either Irish bumpers or irish point to points..
As for the year before that, Cue Card was just something special, the odd glitch on the radar! The other 3 home could of been considered Irish as Al Ferof had just been secured by Paul Nicholls a month r so before the festival as a ready made bumper star having won his point to point here and winning his bumper by 10 lengths..
Point im trying to make is Irish bumper horses, whilst not always trained by Irish trainers come the festival still miles ahead when it comes to the bumper, I reckon Mullins has it this year with his runner for the Riccis..
Boston Bob, Monksland - Neptune
Minsk - Truimph
Steps to Freedom - Supreme
Scotsirish - Cross Country
Sizing Europe, Big Zeb - Champion Chase
Hurricane Fly - Champion Hurdle
Mount Belbullen - Albert Bartlett
Champagne Fever - Bumper
Theres 8 races and all those horses at the head of betting and some of them have very clear cut chances on form (apart from the novices admittedily)
But you take into account how well we do in races like the Coral Cup, County Hurdle, the National Hunt Chase..
Is it impossible to see double figure results for us, I really dont think so, does it matter to me if we do or dont, not atal, but I wouldnt write it off looking at the current entries and form.. |

jamie, I think I am right in saying that an Irish point to point winner can run in a bumper over here, but a uk point winner is not allowed to run !
As the Irish run a lot of pointers at 4 years of age, then Irish trained horses must have an advantage |
